That doesn't exactly sound like someone looking forward to the 2019 season, especially when coupled with the continuation of the quote in the subsequent tweet.

Gronk is becoming a soap opera. I'm tired of worrying about what he might or might not do, pro wrestling, acting, how much money, blah, blah, blech.
Airing your complaints (whatever they may be) doesn't seem consistent with this organization.

Although I have trouble faulting him because I know there are times when I'll whine to anyone who will listen.

I don’t think he’s complaining. I think he was asked a question and he answered.

That just sounds like a restatement of "see how he feels after the season." Brady says the about the same about getting dinged up throughout the season.

I just don't follow the dramatic lines, on any retirement. At this point, isn't 80% of the team retiring after the season? I will wait for the formal announcements.

Skip off-season activities, and come back strong!!

Your post is a perfect example of selection bias and over-criticism.

He was responding to a direct question at a media day as best he could. What's he supposed to do, stay perfectly mum? Even then, someone will make a post saying 'I'm tired of Gronk saying nothing about his retirement plans'...like BB gets criticised for his laconic style all the time.

Guy busts his ass, risks his long term health for a piece of glory that we the fans covet. Many dozens of posts on this forum speculating whether or not he'll play next year, so its a good thing if he directly addresses the topic.

No one's forcing you to worry about what he might or might not do, are they? Just chill man.

And your post is overreactive nonsense missing the matter's wider context. This drama around Gronk's future has been going on for a year and yes, he'd be well advised not to fuel speculation by coyly dropping hints that in the long run might simply amount to more contract posturing. If you've followed this serial passion play you'll recall his silly Supercross off-season press conference after which he was reined in and toed the line, only to have the same stuff slowly unspool again. Don't get me wrong: I've always loved the guy as a player, although your naively righteous "Guy busts his ass, risks his long term health for a piece of glory that we the fans covet" belies the fact that he does so voluntarily for many millions of dollars. Perhaps "worry" wasn't the best choice of words -- I don't worry about Gronk's situation as much as weary of the constant speculation he encourages. It's an unnecessary distraction at a crucial point in the season with everything on the line.

Hopefully Gronk and all of the Patriots are focused on Sunday.
They can deal with contracts and/or retirements after that.

I hope the team is really focused right not. All this drama can wait another week and I wish the media would just back off! That's obviously not going to happen, they love any controversy they can get. Bill should keep the players away from the media completely till after the game.

Maturing player talking football reality.

Sounds like thread looking to rationalize prior opinion. Maybe I'm just wishful but also objective in the sense that a player plays as long as he's able to contribute. Obviously contributing. Plus I don't listen to football yaps projecting speculative crap they know nothing about.

SB week is a complete circus, and now it seems like Monday night’s events end up spilling over to most of the other days, too. I’m hoping that we see a more serious side from everyone tomorrow, and that the team remains poised and focused behind closed doors.
