Yep its all good.We disagree. I'm fine with that, man.
He was MVP in 1987 so, yes he was considered the best.
Stats do not tell the whole story. Winning and championships count more.
Accuracy is great but making plays and winning mean more.
Eli Manning couldn't hold Elway's jock. C'mon now..
I've been lucky enough to see all of the QB's mentioned in this thread other than Otto Graham and Sammy Baugh.
If I had to pick someone other than Brady I might go with Johhny Unitas, even though his numbers might not be as great as some of the others.
Also, a QB that never won a title that I consider great is Dan Marino. A defender could come in on him untouched and he'd still get his pass off with accuracy. He was as quick as they come.
The funny thing is, those two QB's had Don Shula as their HC for 18 years and they never won it all. The only time Shula won during his 33 years as a HC was when he joined the Dolphins after they were fined a 1st round pick and cash for tampering in 1970 to get him as their HC.
Don Shula is one of the most over rated HC's in the history of the NFL.
Shula is a jerk.

IMHO if a QB is sub .500 on the road then they don't belong in the GOAT discussion.
That leaves out Rodgers, Elway and Favre.
The same goes for average to poor playoff records.
That leaves out Manning, Brees, Marino and Rodgers & Favre again.
That leaves only Brady, Montana and Staubach.
Unitas?

That is an erroneous statement considering his win percentage will increase if the Pats win the next 4 games. At 9-3, the Patriots are tied for the second best record in the conference, one game behind the Chiefs. They're currently the 2nd seed. That's a great year for any team, yet it has dragged down Brady's career winning percentage.
********! 2-0 is perfect! E-LIE is the GOAT!Elway took the Broncos to FIVE Super Bowls. Last time I looked 5 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2.
Neither one should be in the discussion. That's my whole point. The GOAT list should be really, really short.********! 2-0 is perfect! E-LIE is the GOAT!
That’s an interesting context to passer rating but it is also inherently flawed with the ridiculous nature of passer rating and what people imply it indicates.ProFootballReference has a stat called Rate+ (or Passer Rating Index) that compares a QB's passer rating for a season to the league average passer rating that sason. It's not perfect - maybe everybody just sucked in a particular year - but in general it's a good way to adjust for era. It basically says how below or above average a guy was for a particular year. It's easy enough to interpret - league average is indexed to 100, so anything over 100 is above average.
There are only 5 QB seasons where they had a Rate + of >= 145 since the AFL-NFL merger. 1989 Montana, 1994 Young, 2004 Manning, 2007 Brady and 2011 Rodgers. As great as Mahomes has been this year, his Rate+ so far is "only" (lol) 133.
For a more reasonable "good a long time" let's count guys with a Rate+ >= 110.

Not saying this "proves" anything, just something fun to look at that tries to adjust for era.
