I'm actually stunned Simms had Brady in the top 5 let alone top 3. He's spent the last half-decade hating on him. I figured he'd have Marino Favre and Manning over Brady. I mean I'm also shocked that he didn't put his dad on the list but hey...

Bert Jones was a far better QB than Arod, if only the above metrics are considered

The point I was making, poorly perhaps (and further, I am certainly not defending Simms' list and have my own augmentations to it) is as follows.

There are two general flavors (IMHO, maybe even more) of what the "Who is the best QBs Ever" type conversation gets at for some people.

Someone could take the physical side of the equation as the more prominent side of it; namely things like big arm, accuracy, mobility etc in a "what attributes build the best QB". From that perspective, I don't think many would put TB very high.

The other side of the coin, which is where I think most people who invest a lot of time in this sport would argue from, is one must weigh things like winning/success, raising the performance of those around you, doing more with less and other less quantitative attributes, where TB shines above all others.

If I were building the "perfect QB" in a lab, there are probably no physical attributes of TB's that I would take to put into the recipe. I would take someone else's legs (Russell Wilson or LJax), someone else's arm (Pat Mahomes) , someone else's physical stature (Cam Newton) . Give me his mind, heart, fire and his "4 o'clock in the morning courage" however.

My point is probably laid out better using two other QBs on his list. Simms' ranks Terry Bradshaw above Roger Staubach; I'd place Roger over Terry, Simms presumably does so because of more titles.

Terry B to me is a modern day Eli Manning with a bit more Kobe Bryant killer instinct in him. Serviceable QB who can make some splash plays but how much of his success was because the Defense he had? Roger was Arod physically with balls to finish/comeback and leadership to boot.

Hope Rodgers doesn’t make NFL’s All Decade team.

As a relevant aside: Bill O'Brien, before joining the Patriots, spent two years as the OC at Duke. In that span, Duke went 1–21, with one of the most anemic offenses in college football. [And yet, BB et al., decided much as they did with Kyle Van Noy, that's our guy.]

I agree with you. That said, Bert Jones' physical attributes (big arm, accuracy, et al) were far superior to Arod's. His intangibles were better too. Were it not for piss poor teams he played on and early knee injuries, Jones probably would have gone down as one of the best of all time.

You mean #4 isn’t the sum of all the accomplishments of Archie + Peyton + Eli taken as though accomplished by a single QB?

If not then why such a high rating?

    BB agrees.

If Bill Belichick Could Choose Any Quarterback To Lead His Team, He’d Pick …

I had to disagree, because what you said is like saying Brady was more like Matt Cassel only better.

I've always wanted this, still do but could you imagine NEP V SF?

Two of the most storied franchises.

    Bill vs Kyle

    Brady vs Jimmy.

2 of the best defenses in an offensive era.

I can't remember a bigger storyline. Maybe I'm missing something but the GOAT QB/HC against Jimmy has everything anyone could want.

    This makes no sense.

Bradshaw won 4 super bowls and Aikman three. Both are Hall of Fame quarterbacks.

And I said this in the context that Starr/Unitas was not similar to Brady/Manning because of free agency.

How is that similar to comparing Brady to Matt Cassel?

It's one of the most absurd posts ever.
