All quiet on Hightower front or Dont'a-do-it FA tour

I hope you're right about 2-14. But really disagree with many of your evaluations.

WR looks very good. A lot of solid youth on top of established Decker and Enunwa. Not great mind you, as we're now lacking a true #1, but not horrible.

Dline? Really? For a 3-4, it doesn't get much better.

LB? I'm pretty psyched about our LB corps now. Plus, I'm not sure if you heard, there's the potential to bring in a top FA.
Enunwa is a bright spot but not an elite talent. Decker turns 3o in a few days. Meh.

I question how hard your d-line wants to win.

You have nice speed at LB.

Your coach doesn't have 100% complete control over the locker room.

With a sub-par QB an NFL team is automatically 7-9. With a bad QB you are 2-14.

The NJ Jets have all bad QBs on the roster and the fact that they are looking at Cutler makes an already fragile locker room toxic

Hey, times be hard out there. Brother's on a budget.

We will take up a whopper collection for you. 1 cent from every Patriots fan until you get it. We take care of our own here.

If the Jets want to overpay for Hightower, let them and go get Zach Brown.

It would suck but that is what I would do. Personally the more time the passes the more convinced I am he is staying. When FA started I was 90% sure he was gone. Now I am 90% sure he stays.

if revis signs a deal 6 mil a year, jets are off the hook in deal, if he takes less jets still pay right?

Yup. If Revis sits, we owe him 6mil. If he plays some place for 3mil, we owe him 3 mil.

Worst case, we recoup 9+mil for cutting him. Anything extra would just add to the 42 (or 43) million we currently have (factoring in Sheldon leaving).

Nice try. He got traded there. Made him an offer he couldn't have refused. Where did Terrelle Pryor go? What somewhat decent FA signed with the a Browns?

Not as smart as you think you are.

My god, is sarcasm/humor completely dead?

It worked out so well for the jets the last time they tried to get the better of Bill by overpaying one of his FA players

Lol. Someone from Cincy and Keny Britt. Lol. You are precious. You really are.

Don't stop being you.
So the highest paid FA OG doesn't count because you don't know who he is because he plays for cincy?

#1 IOL and #1 or 2 LB. Yeah no free agents want to sign there.

In addition to Britt they also resigned botonio who is one of the top ol in the league.

Adding Hightower is so very Jets. A) you'd be bringing in a player who either went there for a) money or b) working extremely hard to win drove you to a loser team. Either way, not the player you want.

Also, it is probably good for a few extra wins and the Jets will be 6-10, 7-9, which is near smacked dab in not sucking enough vs no chance at actually winning or getting higher in the draft.

I don't know that an ILB adds a couple wins. Even if you're talking about crap-to-star player. But definitely not going from Harris to Hightower.

Hightower is obviously the better all around player now, but Harris, even at 33 is no slouch in the trenches. Still led the team in tackles. And Harris knows the system and squad better than anyone. So yes, Hightower is a longterm solution, but hardly anything that'll markedly increase wins in 2017.

This news worries me, because I could absolutely see the Jets offering him something crazy like $15M per year even knowing they'd never get anything approximating that level of production out of him. They would do it entirely to win some headlines and mess with the Pats.

The Jets interest in Hightower is an obvious attempt to generate positive headlines in response to the Pats moves over the past week.

Just like with Revis, the Jets would have no idea how to use HT and their fans will be dismayed when he doesn't live up to the hype.

As long as the Jets continue to make personal moves to drive good PR, they will continue to be a non factor in the AFC East and be in permenent rebuilding mode.

Why does that worry you? All that will do is hurt the Jets while the Patriots will be perfectly fine with a Zach Brown.

Zeitler was one of the top FAs on the market, there were at least 5 teams willing to pay him big money. He's really, really good.

What good is cap money when you create it by getting rid of every decent player you have on your roster?
I mean seriously do you have 5 quality starters left in the roster?
