AFCE contract news: D'Bust signs D'extension

I doubt it. He doesnt really even have a position unless you believe the Jets are serious about playing a guy 40lbs underweight for his position.
He certainly did and still does cost a ton more.

All lies! He does have a position! He will be starting at Left Out or potentially Chief Defender of Ryan's Buffet Table.

Personally, I think Ferguson is overrated. It is a lot of money for a guy who has been a bit of a disapointment until this past season. I don't think he is as good of a pass blocker as he is made out to be, but how do we really know for sure since the Jets don't pass the ball. If this deal means they end up losing Mangold or Harris, it is a stupid deal.

The thing is that IF they have a good season, and there is a cap next year, they are going to lose a lot of players.
Many players are asking for new deals, regardless of how much is left on their contract, and they have brought in a slew of players that are on the last year of rookie deals.
Then, when you set the precedent for rewriting a contract when you draft a player who actually plays well, what kind of new deal will Shonn Greene want to replace his 2nd round contract if he is actually any good? Hell the scrub they are going to throw in their at RDE is going to want a big contract because he must be a stud since the team keeps telling everyone they are the best team ever assembled.

Telling the failed 260lb OLB that he is going to now be a 34 DE is like telling the ugliest girl in the town that she will get a lot of dates for her personality.

On another note, when the Jets drafted Vernon Gholston with th 6th pick in the draft and paid him many millions to rush the QB, I was watching from my couch, almost twice as old, almost 50 lbs overweight (NOT ANYMORE THOUGH!!!) and I have gotten as many sacks.
In other words the Jets could have put every draft eligible person in a bowl, picked out a random name, paid them millions and gotten the same number of sacks.

Yep I was wrong.

Still not sure how 08, 09 and 10 are weak drafts.

You can argue the no depth angle but I think the starters taken have been good outside of Gholston who has one year left to change his status as monumental bust.
08 you wasted the 6th pick on a bust
09 you traded up to draft a bust QB (so far he has been the 2nd worst starter in the NFL)
10 spend a first rounder in the never ending search to find a corner, and reached for a LT that played against wea competition in order to move him to G

Amazing analysis. I'm glad you know how Wilson and Ducasse will play so I don't have to wait to watch the games and find out.

21 More days till camp right?

Christ.

It will probably be less painful Ducasse is a big risk I think. But I do suppose Faneca was awful

Right because no one ever grades a draft before the players have played.
In fact, I didnt really even comment on the players ability, but on the strategy.
When a team has no depth and has to use a #1 on a position where they have brought in numerous FAs each year, and cuts the est run blocker on a running team forcing it to reach in the second round and convert a T who played against 230lbers at low levels of college to G, you are reaching and not filling holes. The lack of picks also strategically keeps your team lacking depth.

yeah...21 more days of this pre-September Super Bowl Trophy parade for the green beenz....

The part where you try to act objective is fun.

Hi Mangold.

Unfortunately for you, D'Brickashaw is more important to the team as he is an elite left tackle. As you know, elite left tackles are much more important than elite centers. And obviously, Sanchez's jersey needs to be kept clean. This signing ensures that.

7 years because he has one year remaining on his current deal and obviously he just signed a 6 year extension.

Well put, great signing by the Jets.

If Ferguson were as good as homer Jet fans think he is, then this would be a good signing. If he is as good as nonJet fans think, you paid way to much for mediocrity.

Then again, if all the players on the Jets were as good as homer Jet fans think, you would have won the last 8 SBs, and would require a 300 mill cap.

The title of this thread alone is worth a +1.

The part where you try to act objective is fun.

Through Homer eyes, objectivity is seen as Hating.
You see medicority in Green and call it good.
Unfortunately there is so much depth and analaysis required to judge players that it isn't so obvious. Overrate and individual player and there isnt indisutabloe evidence to contradict.
However, in some cases it can be exposed.
Your GM is 32-32 and you call that a good job.
This is consistent with your homerism view. Anything Jet is good if its mediocre, great if its good, and average if it blows.

The part where you try to act objective is fun.

Just for the heck of it, besides the fact the I don't overrate everything about the Jets, exactly what did I say that lacked objectivity?

Everything.

And I maintain this, you are the least objective poster I've ever seen on a football message board. I'm sure Rexorcism agrees.

Do you understand what objective means?
Why dont you give a couple of examples?

You understand that if you and I both analyze the Bengals and you say last year was the first step toward a dynasty, and they are one of most talented teams in the NFL, and I say they seem to have overachieved and have flaws and I expect them to decline this year, that does not make me less objective than you.
