I don’t know where they ranked and whether or not it would be considered “good,” but they tend to play more aggressively at home, and it was a divisional opponent to boot. I just don’t know how much we can take from it, that’s all.

It’s a stat for the optimists, but those were three fairly tough games and they were firmly in control of two of them, winning both. Even the loss to the Ravens was a close, one score game until the end.
Yeah their points allowed was middle of the road and their pass D was slightly above average.

I expect Rivers to move the ball but not go crazy

I admit, I do wish Shottenheimer was still their coach, for this one.
Anthony Lynn seems like a pretty damn good coach.

Seems calm- but intense, thoughtful, collected and they respond to him.

Note: He spent some time in Dallas as Tuna's running backs coach so he's seen what great HC looks like.

I don't like it one bit.

Me either. At least Marty would hand the ball off 40 times, and go all Andy Reid in the 4th quarter.

Lynn looks like a keeper.

This doesn't seem to be getting nearly enough attention. He's a very good player and his injury could definitely affect their offense
He’ll play but he’ll be a percentage of himself. That’s huge for the Patriots as he would no doubt gash us. With him being gimpy, the Chargers are a nice matchup for us offensively. The Patriots struggle with speed and mobile QBs. The Chargers have a stationary pocket passer and more height/length than speed. Gordon against our terrible run defense is the wild card there.

With worst touchback rate in NFL, sounds like CP has caught their attention.

Rivers last 3 games...

vs Ravens: 181 Yards / 0 TDs / 2 INTs / 51.7 Rating
@ Broncos: 176 Yards / 0 TDs / 2 INTs / 60.4 Rating
@ Ravens: 160 Yards / 0 TDs / 0 INTs / 80.2 Rating

The media has been dismissing this because they were against good defenses. Apparently, Rivers will be back to his usual self against NE

I think this explains a lot about what's going on around this board the last few weeks apparently there are different realities for the optimistic and pessimistic.

Does this really apply to our particular situation? You actually think he’s going to be held to 160-180 yards passing? Does that make me a negative fan that I think N.England’s 2018 defense is a bit different than the #1 ranked defense in the league? To me, it makes me a realist.

If it looks like a duck and talks like one.

I’m not saying Rivers is going to be held to under 200 yards again, but to assume he’s simply going to light our defense up is selling our D short, especially at home.

I am more concerned with the Chargers running the ball or swing passes to the RBs. That has been the weakness of the Patriots defense this year.

My image of Marty Schottenheimer will always be him rocking a sweet KC Chiefs Starter jacket on the sidelines in the colder games in the 90s. Man those jackets were cool!

Crossing patterns making Roberts or worse, Hightower, move laterally

We do have the 5th best Yards Per Pass Attempt in the NFL this year with Baltimore being 3rd for comparison. We are also 5th in pass attempts against. I wouldn't undersell our secondary here. I have seen some Chargers fans point out we are 22nd in pass defense. But again that is based on total yards, and as it stands only 4 teams had more passes attempted against them. Now run defense well...giving up 4.9 YPC will not bold well for us come Sunday. That needs to tighten up.

Lynn plays not to lose. The 4th Quarter of the Ravens game was an embarrassment.
