So first we were good because we didnt have any pro bowlers and were just a team. Now we are not good because we dont have pro bowlers and are just a team?

The pats will be back challenging for AFC east? Um shouldnt it be the other AFC east teams challenging us. Unless ofcourse it was the phins who won 3 superbowls in 4 years.

I don't get that article either. I really don't.

Oh ease up on the kid. I was hard on troll-boy at first too. But after the repeated "your so vein" faux pas, and twice today believing that writer has two T's, never mind all the grammar, it's clear this kid does have a brain in his head, we'll just have to wait 'till he hits High School for him to have a grasp of Language Arts. I'm sure we can muddle through his posts and deduce his true meaning until then. At least those of us who haven't introduced his username to the ignore list.
Now THAT is a great link. Good peice of work, T-Shirt.

Re: Add Clayton to the post season "ridicule" list???

I guess I missed the part where Culpepper suddenly learned how to read defenses and make good decisions on the field.

Re: Add Clayton to the post season "ridicule" list???

John Clayton reminds me of that professor guy on the Bullwinkle cartoon.

Or that Muppets character...Beaker I think his name is...

The guy cracks me up.

I think ESPN hired him just for the ridiculous way that he looks.

I mean, can you even imagine what position he would play in the NFL?

I bet that Hamburglar could kick his ass up and down the street...

I only listen to Clayton to be amused...he isn't a legit writter in my opinion...

The only good thing about Clayton is that it is very entertaining watching him and Salisbury argue. I find it hilarious. 2 guys who don't seem to know what the hell they are talking about. Salisbury always talks in absolutes and Clayton usually picks the trendy "surprise teams" (the dolphins) like everyone else. Those 2 arguing is the only thing they are good for. I always find it hilarious when it goes back to dan patrick after they are done and he says something like "thanks to the professor and your backup quarterback Sean Salisbury".

The reason Aqua thinks Clayton is a good analyst is because he is on espn and guys like Merril Hodge make him look like a brain surgeon. But then again, a piece of dog **** would probably look real smart compared to Hodge.

Yea them arguing was cool, but it seems they have stopped that. Atleast the last couple of time they have been its like someone was standing there telling them to play nice.

Re: Add Clayton to the post season "ridicule" list???

The only thing of value Clayton writes is the cap position list - and that is simply spoon fed to him. He makes his living off his rolodex and unfortunately guys who do often end up pandering for the guys who drop a dime on them or even return their calls. Belichick doesn't have anyone at ESPN on speed dial.

If ESPN reviewed the performance of their analysts annually and put any stock whatsoever in the quality of their analysis or the level of accuracy in their predictions, most of these clowns would be unemployed.

If John breaks a contract story (although that's usually Pastabelli) or ferrets out some additional nugget of information in a story that already broke on another outlet (which happens more and more lately) then he has done his job as far as his bosses are concerned. It's all about maintaining access and sources of information, and less about the quality of the sourced information. Pieces like this are where John talks up his sources or their teams. He actually went so far as to say Moss will have a good year because he's happy and talking to the media. LOL

If only BB would talk to these clowns we'd have a pre season shot at winning a Superbowl.

Wow, every year the Dolts or their apologetic media rumpswabs come up with a new excuse. First DBs were too physical, then all they needed was home field advantage, and NOW we finally find out that after all this time the problem was really slick balls!

Darn, now we're realllly in trouble. Paymetons being able to handle his balls before the games is a scary thought indeed.

Honestly , that was one hilarious assessment . It seemed like .."we need to throw in a colts +ve point in this 10 list" so lets find out what we can say about peyton being even better . ....was very funny.

Re: Add Clayton to the post season "ridicule" list???

the Patriots' roster is running out of Pro Bowl-caliber players

Just when the media started to make some progress in understanding the Patriots' ways, they regress right back to their former selves. They're hopeless. Good riddance, because I was getting tired of listening. I'll go right back to flat-out ignorning them.

And it's a good thing Brady wasn't nominated for the "Best NFL Player" ESPY. First, I was getting slightly annoyed at all of his fame, glory, and awards. Second, it's just more fuel for the fire. We all know the Patriots eat disrespect - a/k/a Wheaties, the breakfast of Champions - as it's the most important meal of the day!

Re: Add Clayton to the post season "ridicule" list???

The best (worst?) part he says is the following:

8. Peyton Manning will have his best postseason thanks to the league's recent rule change that allows quarterbacks to handle the balls prior to games.

So that's what the problem has been all this time..!! It's got nothing to do with a guy who consistently chokes in big games - it was the balls..!! Now he's a-gonna' win 4 Super Bowls..!!

EDIT: I swear I made the above post before reading what T-Shirt Dynasty said in this very same thread. He and I are on the same page to such an extent it looks like I am just copying him. Rather, it is simply a case of great minds thinking alike

Classic, simply classic.

Incidentally, if Peymeytons balls are too slick maybe it's because he sh*ts his pants before every playoff game.

He don't know me very well, do he?

The funny thing about the Paymetons comment is that it was a non-issue last year! The new rule only applies to the visiting team, the home team has always had their own balls... it's just now that the visiting team gets to bring their own. Paymetons was at home last year, with his own balls, so what (cough) was (gasp) the (sputter) problem?

To be fair, both McGinest and Vinitieri have been Pro Bowlers within the past 2-3 seasons. Ty Law, whom we lost after the 2004 season, was also a Pro Bowler this past year. All of them have multiple Pro Bowls on their resumes.

BUT (as has been said here zillions of times before):

Willie McGinest. Born: 12/11/1971 - age 35 - left as free agent for more money.
Ty Law. Born: 02/10/1974 - age 32 - left after being released for cap reasons for more money.
Adam Vinitieri: Born: 12/28/1972 - age 33 - left for ???. Is a KICKER.

The Patriots know that to stay great, you've got to cycle the roster from older, declining players to younger, up and coming players. Too bad the media types don't understand this.

John Clayton's Truths

I looked but didn't see this posted.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2509705

2. The truth is that Nick Saban, who learned NFL defenses under Belichick, will catch or pass the Patriots in the next year. If Daunte Culpepper continues to make his miraculous comeback from triple knee ligament surgery, the Dolphins could catch the Patriots this year. The Patriots are showing signs of slowing down, even though they should win 11 games with a much easier schedule than they had in 2005. Except for Tom Brady and Richard Seymour, the Patriots' roster is running out of Pro Bowl-caliber players. In contrast, Saban is assembling a big, physical team and has a quarterback in Culpepper who can compete with Brady. Saban surprised many by winning nine games as a first-year coach. Coming out of LSU, Saban was about as sure a lock to be a successful NFL coach as we've seen in the past 10 years. He's bright. He's tough. He devises winning game plans. He's building a winner in Miami. The Dolphins-Patriots battles should be good for years with Belichick and Saban going at it. Saban can't get too lax, though, because the Patriots had a good draft. If Miami slips for a year or two, the Pats will be back challenging for the AFC East.

The Pats are slowing down? How? Prove it to me. Didn't the Pats also win a Super Bowl without pro-bowl caliber players. In fact I think you could argue they won two without pro-bowl caliber players. Oh why do I bother reading idiots like this?!
