A Pretty Impressive Offense!

Absolutely agree! From talking about AVPs body to just other stupid antics.. I like to keep it fun but to the point.. mgteich always comes up with good stuff. I've posted myself that the defense is the most disappointing part of the team. Mayo-pelligrino-Brian- Covington Hightower all part of Bill all the knowledge they have learned under Bill you would think it would have translated.

We should be in on Emmanuel if he gets to us. We should be in on demar Lawrence in FA as well.
The botched hasty exit of Bill turned into an avalanche of mistakes ...
I see no point in bashing and gnashing teeth over and over ...
I like mgteich's opinions on ways/ideas to move forward.

Agreed. The Kraft family didn't make thier $$$ of making bad decisions. They know full well what they are doing and are resigned that the rebuild will take time.

Yes! People are driving themselves crazy LOL the team is going to spend. Drake will have some guys around him. The defense I'd expect to look much better next season.
LOL means Losing Offensive Line to me.

Imagine Drake throwing to Ladd McConkey instead of Demario Douglas.
Imagine him throwing to a healthy Chris Goodwin instead of Douglas .

I'm not impressed. AVP get super conservative in the red zone. Maye keeps throwing game ending picks (not this week, thankfully).
Both can be true. The offense piled up over 400 yards with a balanced rushing and passing game against the Colts giving us another look at what's possible.

The two big issues are the lack of aggressiveness inside the opponents 30-yard line and mental error penalties. AVP needs to take shots at the end zone on first or second down. He can also run more gadget plays in the Red Zone. You are correct that they need to go for six much more frequently.

The offensive line continues too many pre-snap and holding penalties that kill drives and compound the challenges for the skill players. I don't have any proof, but I think the OL is giving clues to the defense about the upcoming play. Too often they load up against the play that's coming after the line gets set. Somebody (or maybe the way they set up as a group) is telling the defense what to expect..

They don't realize that the best WR on this Team is K Boutte. He's drawing the other Teams #1 CB and he's a #3 right now. Get Two better WR's on this Team will give K Boutte favorable matchups and he can reach his ceiling a borderline #2 perhaps. I'm done with Pop Douglas he's too limited he's not what we think he is.
Pop must have peed in your cereal or something. He could literally run circles around Boutte, is the only receiver on the team that can separate from man coverage, and has the best hands on the team. You can have McConkey and Douglas together. Boutte being better than Douglas is laughable at best.

The problem is that AVP's scheme doesn't fully take advantage of slot separators. He's adapting though and it's starting to show.

Olave I hear may also be available this offseason in NO, Trade for Olave, sign tee and draft hunter!
Olave has heavily implied that if he gets one more bad concussion he's going to hang them up. That's not really a stance from a receiver who spends a lot of his time in the slot/going across the middle that would encourage me to spend big money. Although I totally get it from his point of view.

Will not enter into the foray about the merits of individual players, but will say that this team holds my attention amd is more entertaining than the teams of the past two years... which leads me to believe things will get better.
But of course I have been a believer/optimist since 1969....

Players today have alot more advantages then Players in the 80s and 90s. These guys have thing's outside of football that they can lean on. For example Marcus Jones has a music career aside from the NFL. So it's alot easier to step away from the game in your 20s. I don't blame Olave at all. I wish Tua had his thought process.

I was listening on breer talking about AVPs scheme were as it doesn't focus on the slot WR. That's a direct reason why pop isn't utilized correctly in the offense he has the speed, quickness and breakaway abilities to thrive in an offense that focuses on the slot WR. Once we get some guys on the outside pop could have Wes Welker esque numbers.

We will add lots of improvements in the off-season, obviously on the OL and at WR. And hopefully we will find a way to have an OL with many fewer penalties. Perhaps we will upgrade a coach or two (and those who stay will be better after getting some experience under their belts).
======
But look at where we start. Our Offense might have scored 7-10 more points more than the TWENTY FOUR we scored if penalties were reduced.

a fine QB
a running game with 200 yards, led by two solid RB's
two solid TE's (extend Hopper ASAP)
an OK set of two slot receivers in Douglas and Bourne
and OK backup outside receiver in Boutte.
=========
Yes, we need to develop FOUR starters to play with Onwenu, and
2 WR's to play with Douglas and Boutte (and perhaps Bourne)

Impressive Offense did we have a RB or WR go over 100yds?? Let's stop getting carried away we weren't exactly playing the Steel curtain. Like fine wine this thread has aged very well.

Really?? look at his numbers for a Guy who has played so many games. Saying his pathetic numbers are pedestrian is being kind. Speaking of K Boutte it wouldn't surprise me if he finishes the season with more yards than Poop Douglas.

Somehow it turns out that AVP may be the best coach on the team, or the least bad. He has his worts but the offense has more creativity and productivity lately absent the crippling penalties by the offensive line.

Unless there is a clear and obvious upgrade I’d probably keep him for another year pending the performance in the remaining games. Having a rotating door of offensive coordinators early in a young QB’s career isn’t great.

Great Players can make average Coaches look good. I don't think it's AVP: I think it's all Drake Maye. Look at what Maye is doing and he's barely scratching the surface. Imagine getting him the right Coach to get him to that Elite level. I don't think we have that on this Coaching Staff sadly.

The AVP hate is so undeserved. The guy came here amidst a complete disaster...
A brand new GM & a HC who is more like Michael Scott teaching a DEI seminar & a young DC who has never coordinated a picnic.
The OL was a sh*t show, we have 1 legit WR coming off ACL and 4 1st + 2nd year receivers, a couple mediocre RB's and 2 above average (but old) TE's. Oh - and throw in a rookie QB.
The fact that this offense looks better than last year - with 2 very experienced HC & OC and a more vet roster...
is pretty amazing.
Let's give him more than 1 year to build on this.

I agree with all the difficulties he has had to overcome but we have the worst offense in the league yds/g and the 2nd worst scoring offense. It has improved over the past few weeks but AVP has a lot to prove.
