A Pretty Impressive Offense!

Big difference between drafting a wide receiver in the top 5 of the draft vs drafting him at 37. Polk was an egregious miss, but I'm confident that even this front office can't screw up drafting the best WR in the 25 draft.
You know we could have drafted Ladd McConkey, right?

He was there for the taking.

He's only good to patsfans forum members who watch only patriots games and no other NFL games. One look at another NFL offense and you instantly see what real NFL wide receivers are supposed to look like.
Pop Douglas is a scrub: hey what's your take on Xavier Restrepo and Tez Johnson?? I am looking for some real Slot Receivers and not like the fraud we have here.

After outbidding others for Tee Higgins First: just want to make sure.

that we have our QB

Correct.

that we know that we have two solid RB's

Do we? Gibson has been ok. He has 373 yds and 147 receving. A little over 500 yds total offense. I like him. Stevenson for me is a mixed bag. I will never trust him with the ball in a big game situation. That's like the most important thing to me for a back. He's a decent good without that, but not a highest end beast. With that I'm hoping some 4th rounder next year beats him out to be honest.

that we know that we have two solid TE's (presuming that Hooper is extended)

I've give you this one, but really the evidence on Henry isn't that it's a this year discovery. Henry looked the part even with Zappe.

that we know that we have two WR's for the future (OK, they are not #1 WR's) in Douglas and Boutte

Again the stock on Boutte has certainly risen, but Polk, Thornton, Baker, and even Douglas IMO (though he's an NFL player. I had hope of more going into the season.) has dropped or greatly dropped.

that Bourne is still available and competent as one of our WR's

I don't think Bourne has had an above expectations season. Another minor disappointment if anything. I think they didn't even dress him.

Robinson has risen to backup quality and likely has a future for us as a backup

Again Sow was solid last year. Much better than Robinson. I expected nearly all pro, This position has regressed IMO.

Added: Meanwhile this was the first week back from Robinson's benching, and it wasn't great. He shows NFL potential, but we still know nothing on him.

We seem to have found a someone in Brown to compete for a backup position at center.

Ok

I'm sorry. It's all Maye. If Brissett or most rookie QB's were in everyone would still look horrible.

So, you are disappointed with our 6th rounder who will be our slot receiver for years instead of the star you wanted?

Wouldn't that be something for this patriots front office. I would love to see it, but I'll believe it when I see it. In the past, our front office attempting to close big name WRs is as useless as Helen Keller's alarm clock.

At the end of last season I expected him to become a quality starter, and not the knucklehead he is.

And I think you did too.

Wolf went after Ridley and Aiyuk both were not interested. Wolf have Green Bay roots: Draft Receiver after receiver and more receivers. I think we get a Big Time Tackle in FA and on Day 2 of the Draft. I think the early value will be WR.

They don't realize that the best WR on this Team is K Boutte. He's drawing the other Teams #1 CB and he's a #3 right now. Get Two better WR's on this Team will give K Boutte favorable matchups and he can reach his ceiling a borderline #2 perhaps. I'm done with Pop Douglas he's too limited he's not what we think he is.

Interesting...He played for LSU. Perhaps we should draft more WRs out of the SEC and stop passing on them for projects from obscure schools.

They have another one this year Kyren Lacy 6-2 215 played with J Daniels and those Two Outstanding First Round Receivers. I wouldn't mind him on a double dip on Day 2.

mgteich has the right idea/attempt .... I agree with his takes.
As for starting a new thread ... which Ian encourages vs mega threads mgteich is also correct.
the post game thread is infested with a ravenous miserable pricks people who have 2 working eyes ... it needs to be fumigated.
FIFY

QUITE A LOT HAS HAPPENED ON OFFENSE

NOT ENOUGH?
We have had positive evaluation for the future at QB, RB, TE and WR.

We have learned:

that we have our QB

that we know that we have two solid RB's

that we know that we have two solid TE's (presuming that Hooper is extended)

that we know that we have two WR's for the future (OK, they are not #1 WR's) in Douglas and Boutte

that Bourne is still available and competent as one of our WR's

Robinson has risen to backup quality and likely has a future for us as a backup

We seem to have found a someone in Brown to compete for a backup position at center

ALSO
Polk, Baker and Wallace have shown less than nothing
We have also evaluated several players, some of whom are gone.
Stevenson is averaging under 4 yards per carry. What WR is positive?
Naming 2 JAGS doesn’t mean we have anything at the position.

The only positive development is the QB looks good for a rookie and the backup RB ain’t awful.

Other than QB we are worse than what was expected before the season started.

Offensive is ranked 32nd.

He was, and it was a bad decision, but acting like he was a layup is kind of silly.

There's a difference between drafting someone fail proof like Marvin Harris Jr and the 9th WR taken. There was a run at WR at the end of the 1st and early 2nd round and Ladd was the last taken. You could argue those 3 teams also made a huge mistake. The Chargers benefitted on 4 teams including the Pats all passing on him.

Imo we should have gotten him but there is a world of difference between one of the premier ones and hoping one of the tier 2 guys after that end up being the one who pans out. He wasn't some no brainer. Polk was just an egregious miss.

Going 3 and out late in the game, when a first down or two would have iced the game IS NOT IMPRESSIVE!
