Oh, so you think this will be the same team in 2025. Once, again, and I'm growing weary of writing this, the Patriots will have the most available cap money of any NFL team at $139M as currently estimated, and they will have four picks in the top 80 if the current records hold up.
They will have tons of flexibility to sign free agents and trade with those draft picks, especially since they will not be in the rookie or veteran QB sweepstakes. Talent-wise, this will be a dramatically different roster in 2025.
People are critical of the management for not investing this year. Wrong. Danny Ainge showed us all how to quickly build two championship teams by stocking up on draft picks and signing veterans to key positions. We had to live through the break up Brown and Tatum crap to give them time to flourish into elite players while adding talent around them, The Bills did the same around their rookie QB.
I agree that the spotlight is squarely on Eliot Wolf as this season comes to an end. Given the way the Packers built their rosters over years and maintained a competitive team year-after-year, I expect the Patriots to be a much better team in 2025 and 2026, That's when we get to see what Mayo and his staff can do.
