Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
You know that certain years the NFL Draft sucks right?? 2027 is going to be a very deep Draft at certain positions. I think 2028 is going to be a very weak Draft: Teams are going to lucky to get a back-up caliber type players in that Draft. Here's the point a 2027 First Rounder is going to a better investment than a 2028 First Rounder. You'll remember Isaiah Wynn/Lose and Cole Strange?? both were abysmal First Rounders: Strange should have Never been one. You take a proven player over an unproven Draft pick when you get the opportunity. IF the Patriots doesn't do it: some other Team will.
There really is no way to now that 2028 will be a weak draft. The guys coming out in that draft are 19 years old right now and having grown into their bodies and they have a ton of upperclassmen staying in school for NIL ahead of them.

There is really no way to know.

I could get behind trading a 1st rounder for Quenton Nelson or someone else along the line, but I still don't see how people can look back at Super Bowl 60 and think AJ Brown would have made all the difference.
Who thinks AJ woulda made a difference in the SB? I don’t.
I thinking adding AJ to our current roster makes us better.

So, you think adding Brown and dropping Douglas will make us a better team this year?

Maybe we should have a poll.

I didn't mean you specifically, but it's obvious some see him as the missing piece.

I do agree with you that adding AJ to our current roster does make us better, but it's highly debatable whether or not that improvement is worth a 1st round pick.

Signing FB Reggie Gilliam no doubt makes us better. He wouldn't have been worth trading a 3rd round pick and paying $10 million annually though.

That's the whole debate with Brown How much do we improve, and what is it worth?

Yes, we should definitely assess how much better chance we have at the SB in 2026 and 2027 with Brown compared to having a 2028 top draft choice.

Let's add a thought. We were lucky to get Lomu. When the draft was in the 20's, I think that the likely #1 could arguably be likely to be of less value than Brown, especially if Brown's market value was less than a 1st and we got a 3rd or 4th back in the trade. If possible, a trade for Brown would likely have been made the day before the draft. Of course, PHI needed to wait until June 1st.

I think that the value of a 2028 first is much less than the value of a 2026 1st or even 2nd and 4th. I really don't think that there is any question about the value of a 2028 1st compared to a 2026 1st.
