A Frustrating Observation On N'Keal Harry

Dowling was a second rounder, and had a bunch of injuries which impacted his abilty. Maroney was a big part of the team getting to the SB in the 2007 season. Neither should be even in the conversation. It's Easley v. Harry.

Glass-IR was the 33rd overall pick and the very first pick of day 2… I’m sure Billy received phone calls overnight, and yet this is the best he could do? Betcha Floyd Reese told him to stay the **** away from Glass-IR…

At least Bill corrected it and signed who he should've drafted with that pick in Jabaal Sheard.

Back to the thread it's fascinating how NKeal doesn't move until he sees the snap. Is this correctable?? Not that I want to waste any more game snaps to find out

That's a little unfair to give him all the credit. How did he get into that position? Brady and Gronk set that up. And the blocking allowed him to walk into the endzone.

There still aren’t people defending the Michel over Chubb pick are there?

I would not call Sony Michel a bust for being a late 1st round or early 2nd round pick. It's not like we're the Giants picking Saquon Barkley second overall. Sony was a key piece on our 2018 Super Bowl team, he was leading rusher and scored the only TD in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, injuries limited him most of his time here. Now that he's healthy again, he's doing just fine for the Rams.
Considering our success with players in 20-50 range, Sony Michel can be considered a home run . We got value from just his rookie season. He was a serviceable back for the remaining 2 years. Wynn has tremendously regressed and we will owe 10illion next season for him.

the second round DBs barring dugger is where we lost the plot...

maybe with Brady we were able to elevate offense and the bend don't break defense worked as we could outscore. Now with Mac , we need the defense to be a monster but sometimes it reflects the middle tier defense and on those days the offense is simply not able to elevate themselves.

we will just be a 9- 11 win team with this balance. Either Mac hits a different ceiling or our defense plays lights out consistently . unrealistic expectations but what can I do, Brady has pampered us a lot over the last 2 decades.

No

Don't get it twisted. The first round picks (Easley, Brown, Michel, Wynn, Harry) weren't good picks. There's a difference between a pick not being a complete bust and the pick being a good pick.
I am just looking at a little bit optimism. Sony Michel was a great pick compared to the first rounders and second rounders we took.

The only ones better than him seem to be Mac, barmore and dugger among the first 2 rounders. All others are monumental flops since 2015.

At least Michel contributed. No negative play.

OK, well, you're grading on a curve while I wasn't, so there's our difference.

You are just fine.

People on this board get so bent out of shape over f-ing draft picks and do not take into account the high probability for failure picking after #15. Every bust or "bad pick" assessment lacks context.

Sony was the 31st pick in the first round. On average, 30% of players chosen after #15 in Rd1 become starters starters. That means 70% never do.

From that 2018 draft class Sony is the 2nd leading rusher behind Chubb with 3400yds in 57 games w/ 23 TDs.

We don't win SB 52 w/o Sony. That is not a "bad pick".

I've never felt that separation was such a huge issue, and that his size and working with Mac would eventually mean a breakout. But that early drop last week was so huge and so inexcusable that I don't know what to think anymore. Changed the whole game.

I wrote about this in an entry this morning, but he's a guy who just doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing. He's late off the ball on quite a few snaps, which I highlighted in a post this morning but figured it was worthy of sharing here.

Take a look at these:

It's just crazy...he's literally the last guy to move in all three of these. I've tried to stick up for him, but man...this is just unreal
Umm apparently @Ian didn’t read his agents memo that Harry is a dominate downfield threat. If we were lining him up downfield these problems wouldn’t be factors.

The troubling thing about him is he turned an easy catch into a pass which hit the underside of his elbows. He tried to basket catch a ball that was at his head. He could have put his hands up for an easy catch. But no! He turns to the side and tries to catch it basket catch style with his elbows at head level. Ball hits his forearms and bounces through. Guess it was a win in that it wasn't picked off.

Utterly insane. It's like he's never played football in his life.

Bust pick who they keep forcing opportunities

So, will Wilkerson or Nixon get some snaps or will they stick with Harry ?

Playoffs....

Sony

Chubb

Running behind massive holes created by Gronk, Develin, and a massive OLine wasn't hard. You can see in his yards after contact stats he just fell down when touched. But the running lanes were huge. So many other replacement players would have done equally well as a Pats RB without burning a 1st round pick.

[Edit] yup just looked it up, Michel was last among starting RBs in 2018 and 2019 in yards after contact, and broken tackles.

I dunno, he played pretty well when we needed him, and we won a SB with him leading the way.
Super Bowls are ez...
How many "Replacements" can actually block, AND run through the "Huge" holes you speak of?
Is EVERY pick EVER going to be a Home Run?
I've been reading your drivel for the last year or so, do you ever get tired of being the smartest person in the world?

Just asking...for a friend.
