3 needs, all filled, and the whining continues

Hey all. I don't visit the Patriots boards too often, but can someone confirm that Wozzy is negative all the time?

His negativity here is justified. This was Not a good draft, at all. A lot of "settling" for prospects done. I didn't like Either of their OLmen where they were taken, or that they were taken AT ALL; nor where the first WR was taken; and I also didn't like Either of the 6th-rounders.

Meet the New boss; same as the old boss.

It was an odd draft. Actually felt like a BB draft as it left me scratching my head at times.

Maye - no brainer. Ton of potential. Let’s hope he gets there.

Polk - A bit disappointed they didn’t take Ladd McConkey. Polk’s comp I saw was J. Myers, a good reliable WR. But I was hoping for more than reliable in the 2nd round, I think McConkey can be special.

Wallace - I don’t get this. Not only a bit of a reach, but we need a LT, not a guy who’s only played RT. There were also some LTs taken around this pick. If we had moved around a bit I feel we could have got one. If he ends up being a good starter, that’s good, but we are still likely looking for LT again next year.

Robinson - a big head scratcher. A reach at a position we don’t really have a need at. Especially with guys like Franklin, Sanders, and some of the RBs and Safety’s who were available around that pick. Once again if we had moved up a few picks we could have got an impact player.

Baker - I liked this pick. Good value here.

Dial - Depth in the secondary.

Milton - Head Scratcher. Don’t see the need for him.

Bell - like this pick. Really good value and he can play.

That's mostly how I see it too. Just not very good overall.

If the coaching isn’t good enough, particularly at the position coaching level, this draft will be a missed opportunity, and would be even if they took all of my “mock draft binkies” .

If, however, they get what they need from their staff, then this draft can provide (A) the most essential need for their team, a highly talented QB, and (B) some much needed improvements to the “foundation” of their offense. They need good teaching as much as anything else.

Even more so, if the staff can gain the confidence of the roster, it will make it so much easier for the newer guys to step in and make an impact. Especially on offense what took place since the GOAT left was that the players lost confidence in the coaching and became a much less disciplined and more mistake prone group. I’ve been thinking back to why they were able to go from a 5-5 team to Super Bowl champions in 10 weeks. It wasn’t overwhelming the other teams with superior players, it was superior confidence that the individual players can win their individual matchups and that their teammates will do the same simultaneously.

Milton... why?

Josiah Ezirim was the Saints last pick in the 7th round, I wish the Pats took him over Caeden Wallace... at least Josiah is potentially a starting tackle.
Because when Maye flames out by week 12 next year, someone's going to have to play.

Fair with a touch of generosity.

I have them closer to C, 25/32.
C+ from me. Feels like Wolfe plays it too safe afraid to take any risks.
The Maye pick was good. They absolutely blew it not trading back into first round to get Legette...who will be a true #1. A burner who is built like stone. Then after they lost out on Legette, they absolutely should have stayed at 34 and taken McConkey who has sub 4.4 speed and is a phenomenal route runner.
Polk is a good solid player, but I think 37 was too high.
No risk no gain.

Certainly Wolfe has not taken any chances with trades or free agent signings. Everything is vanilla straight down the middle.

I think they wanted a safety valve and took the safest bet in polk to pair up with maye for the next 4 years . A wr2. I think they didn't feel anybody else was a wr1 and roo much risk with mitchell.

Even i was cross with the pick on draft day , but have tempered down and can see the logic. Maye is not going to play much this year and we need a dependable one for next year . So they got one in polk. They lucked out with baker.

As for the other 2 OT, I feel they went conservative with high floor medium ceiling picks who can help create a semi functional oline. I don't think they wanted to wait for 2 years with kiran. For all we know strange and Anderson could start season on pup. So needed 2 plug in type players for those needs and probably this is the best fit from a scheme standpoint.

Can't wait for OTAs.

Ya, I do agree with much of what you wrote. I was watching Phil Perry today and he said that the thought behind the Polk pick was to get a guy who was dependable and would go over the middle, a better version of Jacoby Meyers. He said he spoke to some people in the league and the feeling was that on the Pats he’s a dependable #2, on a good team a #3. He’ll have a place, but most don’t think he’ll be a high end WR.

I just think they needed to be more aggressive. Word has come out that the Pats tried to come back into the end of round 1 to get X. Leggett. That would have been a bold move I would have liked to see. Try to get a guy on the outside who could be a number 1. But they obviously didn’t offer enough.

Seems to be a common refrain this offseason, despite all the spin attempts.

I would've been ok with Paul at #34, who was already my next-favorite LT besides Suamataia.

Here are the two main roads that Yesterday should've travelled:

- Paul / Suamataia at 37, then either Polk himself or his teammate McMillan, or Roman Wilson, at 68;

- Adonai Mitchell at 37, then Yale Left Tackle Kieran Amagadjie at 68.
There is no way that Polk would have been there at 68. There is also no way they were drafting Mitchell who has boom or bust (with a high probability of bust) written all over him. A rookie QB needs dependable pass catchers.

How often had we heard that in the past when discussing all of Billy's lousy drafts?
Some of Bill's picks worked out and some didn't. The problems came when he (or Kraft) didn't want to anti up for the good ones and let them walk away later.

There's isn't a single person anywhere who knows how any draft pick will turn out. The top 20 picks could end up in a completely different order of value, just like every year in the history of the NYFL.

I heard they tried trading back up to get Legette or Coleman and couldn't find a willing partner, takes two to make a trade.

They tried with Buffalo, and they didn't want to trade with a division rival.

We disagree about Polk's availability at 68.

And even if he weren't, there was still the much more dynamic Roman Wilson, and Polk's just-as-reliable UW teammate Jalen McMillan, still available...

So either way, Wolfie & the Leftovers blew it.

I'm not exactly saddened that a trade-up didn't happen... How many valuable-enough assets to deal did we have at our disposal anyway?

WHERE THE **** IS OUR ****ING LEFT ****ING TACKLE?!?!?

And Adorable Adrian Adonai Mitchell is >>>>> Jalynn Polk.

D for the Polk pick

D ****ing Minus for the Wallace pick.

I am with you on the Wallace pick, but let's just pump the brakes on Polk. He's going to be fine.
