PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp Day 4

fwiw, Boutte is younger than Chism by 7 months
it is not too far fetched to envision WR 1/2 in 2028 are Boutte/Doubs

I tend to doubt it, but it could happen. I still think there is still a chance Boutte is traded. I still think it is decent enough of a chance.

My guess is even if Boutte stays, either AJ Brown or another true #1 WR (either drafted, signed in free agency, or traded for) will be on this team in 2028. I don't think Boutte is a #1 WR.

Reports out of camp are that Boutte is looking even better than last year and Brown and Doubs have yet to find the real rhythm and chemistry with Maye.

Pop is looking pretty good too and I think it's clear that it takes time for the WR/QB chemistry to develop in this offense.

Its one thing to know the play book and understand the option routes, its another to learn to be exactly where the QB anticipates with the right body position and leverage.

Going into the season many, myself included, appreciated Boutte but felt that Doubs and AJB are upgrades at the position and that Boutte isn't much of a separator and was benefiting from Maye's insane deep ball accuracy. I think this camp is proving that, while not a separator, Boutte knows exactly how to position himself in a way that Maye likes and can predict, thereby enabling Maye's deep ball game. He's a big part of the equation.

Hopefully our new receivers can build that rapor with Maye as well, and if they do, we can be right back to who is the odd man out debate...but it might take time.

Well, if you're going to compare him to Mahomes...how can I possibly top that?
You asked about his body type, his size.

It's disingenuous of you to suggest I said he was like Mahomes in any other regard... because I didn't.

There are dozens of other guys on the Patriots who put the team firs just like Bouttet. The fact that he is out there and practicing and working hard while under contract should be expected, not hailed as something special. If he held out or held in, he would be definitely wrong. But he is doing what every other player under contract is doing in camp when it comes being a team player and effort.

I don't hate the guy. I would be happy if he is on the team this season. If they don't trade him, I will be rooting for him to have a 1,000 yard plus season and gets paid whether it is with the Pats or someone else next year.

But I am not going to give him flowers for doing what is expected of him in training camp. His attitude doesn't make the team any better than Romeo Dobbs showing up, work hard, and being there for his teammate or any other player.

And four days hasn't changed anything. They are giving him a lot of reps most likely for one of two reasons either to see how they can work a system with Brown, Boutte, and Dobbs getting their share of playing time or they are showcasing Boutte to help him get another team to trade for him. Both will be an ongoing thing that will evolve over training camp and the preseason and will not be decided in four days.

Nice speech grandpa.

It's not the way things always are.

Coincidentally how far did Patrick Mahomes at the same exact school go in the playoffs? He went 7-6 and 5-7 his last two years.

Looking for the part about body type here. I'll just pretend you don't know the definition of disingenuous Vizzini.

When you question his body size, then suggest he was responsible for Texas Tech’s failure in the playoffs this answers itself.

When has Texas Tech ever been relevant in the college postseason… never.

Also why did you fail to mention how I said he also has the same body type as Aaron Rogers? Oh yeah, because Rogers is on the back 9 and not what he used to be. Mahomes still has it.

I didn’t say similar player, I said similar size.

I said this to both players when you questioned whether Behren has NFL size. He clearly does.
