PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp Day 4

100% agree. Ohhh is Gonzo butt hurt by RFK stating some facts relative to the contract offer. A team willing to pay that type of contract has a right to give some indication to the fans of where they stand in the negotiation.
the devil is in the details;
how much is guaranteed?
when does he get his bonus money?
when does the new contract kick in?

Hollins had the most snaps of any wr last year.

I think that says what the team thought about wr last year even if you disagree.

It said that for last season, the team valued his reliability in the first year of a new offensive system. It says our OL still wasn't doing a great job and needed the extra chip blocking. To me, it said more about a need to protect the most valuable asset we have.

Yes that description sounds like a guy the team would be satisfied to use again as a third WR option this year.

How is Gonzo butthurt?

He made the ideal response to the expected contract question, and some arsonists looking for clicks go crazy about it.

I can’t decide whether to SMH @ the stupidity, or just LOL at the show.

A previous post insinuated that Kraft was disrespectful to Gonzo by discussing the negotiation.

Because Boutte was injured. Boutte played the most snaps when he was healthy so that should tell you what the team thought of him even if you disagree.

Are you honestly telling me you think Hollins is a better WR than Boutte?

So why did they bring in 2 new WRs?

Hollins was injured too. Based on games they played about the same.

I'm saying it made sense that the team trade one of the 3 unsigned WRs, and the case that they keep Hollins over Boutte seemed more plausible considering the circumstances after June.

But Boutte has come in after sitting out, is working hard and sort of setting an example on how a winner handles himself.

So yes 4 days might make a difference from a team building perspective.

So why did they bring in 2 new WRs?

That question is more pertinent to how they felt about Boutte, the younger player with a contract coming up and his whole career ahead, than a veteran who is probably close to the end of the road.

He’s not the only Alum I like reading this, but like you…he is my favorite alum to hear that he is back giving advice. HOF OL coach.

yeah, but just back for a visit - not for anything in depth. I am not sure a guy with his natural ability could really bring it off as a coach type. A guy like Edeldude who had to learn the smallest details to get an advantage and always gave 110% effort is someone that I think is more of a longer term educational resource.

Belichick said Moss was one of the smartest receivers he ever coached, and given the amount and types of coverages Moss faced you would think he would know a ton about how to beat those coverages. I think he would be a great coach, but a tv gig is much easier.

Boutte played more when healthy. That’s a fact. Boutte missed 1.5 more games and played only 50 fewer snaps.

Why would they have to trade one of Boutte, Douglas or Hollins?
Why would they pick the youngest and best to trade?

Boutte handled himself exactly the same way last year. The organization’s opinion of him didn’t change in 4 practices.

You think teams often look to upgrade young developing players rather than old players who have been journeyman their whole career and are near the end?
Interesting strategy.

Interesting strategy.

They picked up two huge contracts in Boutte's contract year.

You might not like their strategy, but that's how they viewed the young developing player.

The indication from June was Boutte was asking to be traded.

They view him as one of their 3 best receivers.

Can you show me that? I think you are back to the point I was making, it’s all unfounded media speculation. But if you can show me where he said that I’d have a different opinion

Because they think Kyle Williams ain’t gettin er done.
Nah he’s got a path. He was find for a 3rd round rookie.
