Just a few days ago Pete Carroll and Raiders GM John Spytek were really pumping up Amari Cooper.
Not sure how much of that was standard pre-game hype, or perhaps more part of the negotiations with Jakobi Meyers, but they were talking him up as if he was their number one receiver.

From August 29:
The Las Vegas Raiders reunited with wide receiver Amari Cooper on Monday, signing him to a one-year, $3.5 million deal worth up to $6 million. He brings another veteran presence to a wide receiver room that includes Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, Dont'e Thornton Jr. and Jack Bech.
While he joined the team less than two weeks ahead of the season opener against the New England Patriots, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft will reportedly play a big role in Las Vegas. The late offseason addition will likely take reps away from Thornton, however, who has been a fan favorite. . . .
Cooper will play a big role from the start of the season, which is not much of a surprise considering his track record of success in the NFL. Raiders general manager John Spytek revealed that he will be a big part of the Week 1 game plan while speaking with the media on Wednesday.
"We have a plan for him to bring him along, and that plan will more than likely include him being a big part of the game plan in New England in 10 days, or whatever it is from now," Spytek said.

lol the “big part of their game plan” just retired so that sucks

Let's hope putting Campbell on the injury report is just to comply to league rules. Can't have him gimpy for his first game.

The Raiders have A solid, move the chains WR in Meyers and a deep threat in Tucker. You have Bowers at TE and Jeantry at RB. that's the makings of a solid offense.. Having Cooper announce his retirement will push Bech and Donte` Thornton into the spotlight.

Their O-line gave up 50 sacks last season with Minshew O'Connell, and Ridder behind the line. They've moved back-up Guard Jordan Meredith to Center and flipped Parham to LG and Powers-Johnson to RG (according to the unofficial depth Chart). To me, this screams to put pressure on the "A" gaps. Particularly between Parham and Meredith. Also, Glaze was nearly as bad as Jacobs last year having given up 51 pressures. The Pats should look to take advantage of this.

On defense, people shouldn't dismiss Elandon Roberts. He's gone from STs ace to being a starting LB for multiple teams now. While he's not Spillane or Bruschi, he's a grizzled vet who is likely wearing the green dot for them He has experience IN an practicing against the McDaniels offense. Add experienced LBs Devin White, and Germaine Pratt and you have a solid, though potentially slow, LB corps.

People shouldn't dismiss the Raiders D-line. Crosby, Wilson, Koonce and Butler know how to pressure the QB. Koonce might even be considered a step up from Chiasson for them. Those 4 accounted for 25 sacks last year.

Where the Raiders seem to be weak is in their secondary. It will remain to be seen if they can match up with the likes of Diggs, Boutte, and Douglas. I can see McDaniels going wtih lots of 2TE sets to take advantage of the LBs or with Multi-WR sets to take advantage of the lack of depth amongst the Raiders DBs. I wouldn't be surprise to see a lot of play action with all 3 of the Pats backs.

EDIT: Just saw that Cooper retired.. That actually helps the Pats a lot. Especially if Gonzo can't go..

Cooper retired today.

Not worried about Nasty. He's playing or we will find him dead, lol!

Not gonna lie, this is concerning. Hope it’s nothing….
Ankles aren’t usually an issue unless it’s a high ankle sprain, and if it was, he probably would have been a DNP instead of limited. So probably just a regular sprain. He’ll tape it up and be out there Sunday.

Ankles aren't an issue?
Sorry Ross, have you played on a sprained ankle?
I've played on a low ankle sprain, and it most certainly has an impact.
Now I have no idea how serious it is, but low ankle sprains can be a huge issue from my experience.

I think this is a ploy for Campbell.

If he sucks, "well he was hurt..."

If he does well, "and he was hurt!"

i dont buy it. No one gets injured on a thursday practice! Its bollocks i tell ya

I assume it's minor and Vrabs is just "following rules". Like when BB put Brady on the injury report 3467 weeks in a row.
