So, to repeat, how does the NFL overturn the refs spotting the ball on the field when the refs got the spot right?

That was weird.

That was absurd.

That was frickin' fishy.
The refs clearly called it 4th down. Then they announced the call on the field of a first down was being reviewed. Then they announced the replay upheld the first down call.

I know Collinsworth is polarizing, but I thought he did a great job highlighting coaching decisions like letting the defense sub, and the way the Pats playing so many different players including rookies all year has given them depth.
He did a great job pointing that out. It was really funny watching the Chargers going no huddle but then subbing out Keenan Allen once, I think he got tired (getting old), and that meant the defense also gets to sub. So the refs blocked the Chargers from snapping until the Pats were done subbing, and boy did they take their sweet time. Half the defense or more slow-jogged off to the sideline while their replacements slow-jogged on. You just know Vrabel was telling them to milk it. They burned so much time on that.

It was especially funny to me because Vrabel was interested in the Chargers job last year but they didn’t really look his way at all and just hired Harbaugh as soon as possible. How’s that working for them… Vrabel ran circles around Harbaugh.

OT: New Era and 47 need to fire the people designing their hats. My god they are

That whole sequence was really bad and one of the shadier things I’ve seen in the league lately. I hope there’s more reporting on it but I kind of doubt it.

What do you mean, Ross.. This is the NFL. They NEVER do shady things *wink wink*.. Guarantee that you won't hear squat about it.

Followed by the hit to the head that wasn't called. I got a chance to teach my kid what a "make-up call" is tonight.

2024 will be remembered as a Golden generation for QBs. I'm hoping Drake Maye can bring us to Glory soon!

Getting that first playoff win under his belt is HUGE!

Just for comparison, Josh Allen didn't get his first playoff win until his 3rd NFL season. So Maye is a little bit ahead of schedule!

Let's not go anointing that Draft class as "Golden" anything just yet. Daniels can't stay healthy. And the jury is still out on Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Bo Nix.

I will just offer a mea culpa. I thought we had to win on offense and a game in the teens wouldnt favour us. The defense proved me wrong. I love these wins more than the offensive ones although they are more nerve wracking.
I also always try to think what the other team couldve done and frankly they were outcoached and their OC didnt do anything at all to change things up like go no huddle, stop pats from substituting , do a shorter passing game . They possibly thought they will win on defense. i would be mad as a charger fans that they have 3 700 yard WRs and they didnt give themselves a better chance
They might not have been able to do those things. They actually gave themselves Pats chances to substitute in the Q4 stretch run. They just weren’t good enough to play at the high level you are suggesting,n even though it’s not really a very high level.

Our defense was lights out but it was a really poorly coached game by the chargers. I remember during the brady days, even with joe's on the OL , you can count on our coaching staff and tom to come up with a way to move the ball. Very rarely ( vs jets 2011) you felt they were outcoached even when shorthanded.
I am surprised herbert and co didnt go with quick passing game at some point or no huddle.

Felt like a huge make up call (or rather, non-call) at the time for sure.
