Franchising Darnold makes the most sense. Gives them an extra year to see if he is the real deal and to see how McCarthy develops, before deciding who their long-term answer at quarterback will be.

Hunter/Carter have been my ideal top 2 selection preferences. Both supremely dynamic players. Carter reminds me of TJ Watt with the bend of Miller. Players of that caliber can change a defense. Best player available is the way. Unless, of course, an outrageous offer is put on the table..

It will be interesting to see how the playoffs unfold. If he has a big run in the playoffs, the Vikings will have no choice but to keep him. McCarthy can wait.

Can see the Vikings offering him a deal to keep him in place while McCarthy works on his rehab/development. Don't think they need to franchise him though.
