Just based on one game, I'm certainly not a fan of the kickoff rules. Looks absolutely pointless. Are some of the defenders allowed to start further back to build up some speed or do they all have to be on the line?

It wasn't amazing but...it was okay. It was a professional football game. Milton was entertaining. Zappe was Zappe. Not much to say about it. The Panthers aren't that great so it's hard to really gauge anything.

1. Panthers are the worst team in the league.
2. The new system (Mayo) absolutely screwed up by only playing Brissett 3 plays, Maye 6... and Zappe for 100
3. A bit concerned with Mayo's learning curve - unprepared when CAR went for it on 4th (TO), and the dumb challenge on INT.
4. Weird to have Wilcox play TE like he's the next man up, and only see Bell in the 3rd qtr
5. I think we're going to be very good at RB (and we'll need to be)

2. I'm withholding judgement till the rest of preseason.
3. Situational football is definitely where we'll take a hit post BB
5. Definitely. I liked Hasty and Jennings as good depth

Feels like a bunch of knee injuries waiting to happen to the receiving team’s line

"Aren't that great" is an enormous compliment to the level of play of the Panthers less 30 of their "best" players

Can't wait for the season Premier of New England's favorite TV show "This late round QB will usurp the first round QB on his way to become the GOAT"

lol. Wut

Boutte got a lot of exposure. Generally looked good, apart from dropping a third down conversion that hit him right in the hands.
There were 2 of them. The one from Milton, but he also dropped a perfectly thrown "40yd fade route down the sideline" from Zappe on a rope.

Teams aren’t going to show anything until the games count. I’m hoping we eventually see a little innovation, with things like “pulling” blockers into other gaps and initiating blocks at varying depths.

If Brissett got a little more air under that one throw, would have been fun to see if maybe he might have come up with it.
Brisk is too risk averse to throw up a jump ball. The problem on that play was that TT was way down the line on his progressions, so Brisk didn't end up throwing it until well after 3 seconds (which means the OL was good), but to get TT in stride with his speed, that needs to come out around 2.5s (unless you're Milton).

Something significant about Milton is that he seems to have the best energy, his teammates clearly love him just see how crazy they were for him after the TD.

Deatrich Wise was being interviewed on the field and called Joe Milton a “great quarterback”. I did a double take.

Physically Milton is great. His physique is very comparable to Cam Newton. Are the things that he has struggled with before (accuracy namely) fixable?

Feel like I could gleam more about the team from a few practice tweets than from tonight's whole game.

There probably isn't a bigger Zappe fan than I on this board, but even I wanted to see Maye have more reps than Zap.

Great to see my Beankies, Wallis and Milton, do well. I'm gonna sound like a broken record very soon, but after watching Milton's every snap last year, nothing about what he did surprised me - touch - rookie throw from far hash - reads - great running - and finally the most important - no panic.

His ability to be unfazed by the pressure and easily slip away was a sight to behold. Rarely seen in Foxboro.

Get ready for a lot of Milton talk this week. The talking heads are going to be all over it, I'm sure.
He looked alright. Easily the best QB we had in game 1. He made a good case for himself to bag the QB3 job.

I had completely dismissed Milton during the draft process until KCSVEN posted this spreadsheet about at-fault pressures, and I noticed that Milton was excellent at it. Watching him play, I just never saw panic even when he was missing multiple starters on the OL and WR during games. The rabbit hole I went down basically got me to China (although if I were being accurate, the antipode of Boston is Augusta, Australia):
