Strange has been hurt since last year, so the front office knew he wasn't playing this year.

Sow was a rookie and not a very good one. Lowe doesn't belong in the NFL. Onwenu robbed the Pats with that contract. He is a decent guard, awful tackle. Look at what the JEts did, they went out and signed three new lineman and whoala, fixed their o line problems.

This off season was criminal! Andrews is still a NFL center, but his replacement should have already been drafted.
Clearly the Pats should have taken the Giants trade, or taken Alt at #3. I don't think Maye is that good, but we will never know because he will not survive behind that line. The moves should have been draft some high end talent and load up on quality offensive lineman.

Now the team is toast, and they will have to do that in the off season, so wasting another year. I would rather see them play Milton, at least put someone with real talent on the field!
The arguement appears to be the front office put together a putrid OL but how were they supposed to know that? And then when done of the putrid guys get hurt, and are replaced with the front offices draft picks, who play putridly, that is a good excuse for them.

I'm not a big fan of Rodgers to begin with. I think he's highly overrated. But the ass-kissing is what bugs me the most and why I don't listen. I did notice that Rodgers was being shown constantly on the sideline though.
Rodgers is a top 10 QB.

I see him getting better as the season plays along and the Jets reaching the playoffs.

What do you mean? Who's going to use Mayo's words against him and how? I see plenty of successful HCs who have a personality.

Tight-lipped Bill helped lead this team steadily down the ****ter the last few years, to the point that we now have a completely anemic offense.
This is so spoiled. You can't win forever in the NFL. Every team cycles.

Name me one team that hasn't.

Short week of prep and it showed. Injuries are now too much to overcome on both sides of the ball. I expect a better performance next week. They will lose again but will compete. Bury this game tape and move on.

Brissett is here to mentor Maye. That's it. They aren't going to fire AVP because the OL sucks and Maye isn't ready.
Just wait until the losses pile up.

1 - 7 maybe 2 - 6. Jets will sweep NE just as I predicted.

I watched Bills interview a few years ago he did at his favorite restaurant in Baltimore. He said in his own words that his dad being an assistant coach for navy and his mother a school teacher he always went through life with that structure and indoctrinated it into his coaching strategy. Bill started to treat the media like that as time wore on he wasn't like that in the earlier days.
Bill learned that the Boston sports media including Reiss and Holley is the absolute worst media in the nation.

Im not sure how many of you live outside of Massachusetts, but if you listen to local media elsewhere, there is a night and day difference between what you get in Boston and other cities.

In other cities, there's more balance and analysis. The knives are rarely out even when teams don't have success for many years.

When I tune into 98.5, it's obvious those people are going out of their way to put the coaches and personnel in the worst light possible in order to drive ratings. Maybe they appeal to a certain kind of person that lives in the region, but that just means that the rest of the country doesn't have those types of people (with the possible exception of New York City, but even then WFAN is 100x better than 98.5.)

We've already seen the Boston Media running Mayo in circles. He's more worried about looking good with them than looking good on the field. The fact that you think that Bill's success or lack there of over the last 3 years was because of his relationship with the media shows that you don't understand things.

There are a variety of reasons things went south for Bill. The MEDIA relation was NOT one of them. Not in the least.
I was just asking you how being tight lipped wins games.

I noticed that you mentioned that Bill learned how to treat the media from Tuna ****. They were opposites with the media.

And there's no way that reporters are asking questions so they can tell some other team. Asking questions of the HC of the NEP is their job.

I like what I saw from Drake Maye in that one series.

He was jittery and nervous, which is maybe natural for being out there the first time, so it was good for him to get his feet wet.

But he fought through it, he took some hits, put himself on the line, and even made some nice runs and a couple of nice throws. As he gets acclimated (and as Sow and Vederian Lowe come back) we'll all be pleased if he starts.

I watched Wallace a lot last night, and he reminds me of the same Wallace I saw at Penn State over 4 years. This guy is stout and he can't be bullrushed. He also cannot move. As in, AT ALL. He cannot move laterally. His talent range is UDFA as a career backup. The fact that we picked him at 60+ is troubling, to say the least.

Are the wagons circling around AVP yet or are we chalking it up to the o-line - in which case is it the new staff OR is it not the staff at all and did Eliot and Co. totally drop the ball not drafting a Tackle OR...was there no real talent available , so did he do the best he could....

My God, we suck don't we? What's for breakfast you ask?

LFG PATS!
AVP is part of the problem. There are ways to gameplan around these limitations. The opposition is sending 7 people. You need to counter that.

I agree about the Paul / Suamitaia.

Oli Udoh - Recovering from a torn bicep. How were you going to sign him when he wanted to join Klint Kubiak? And, he's played all of 12 offensive snaps in 2 games.

Yosuah Nijamn - The guy who has played all of 3 snaps in 2 games for the Panthers. Only on Special teams, I might add?
Andrus Peat - Can you name the other players 30+ that the Pats signed this off-season? And he's appeared in 27 snaps...

You're making a TON of assumptions about the quality of players you think they should have signed. You have no idea if they'd have been a good/great line in a outside zone scheme run by AVP.
I'm not making a bunch of assumptions. I'm the guy who was here saying Okorafor and Lowe sucked the instant this team acquired them.

You're making assumptions all these free agents I've mentioned, who have a history of playing and playing well, suddenly are going to suck when they arrive in NE.

How do you get them here.... pay them with your league leading cap space. They weren't expensive and we had all the money in the world, using money as an excuse when they wanted to overpay Aiyuk and Calvin Ridley is horsesht. Also draft one in the second round instead of a WR who doesn't look any better than Osborn, Boutte, Bourne or that Reagor guy you just cut because he wanted to play.

I don't thnk that will matter. They have a plan and they are going to stick to it. I don't think they'll jettison AVP and put Maye on the Mac Jones multiple OCs plan. The line is a mess and that needs to be fixed, but that's the OL coach and the GM. Now, if they don't fix it next off season, then I think Wolf will be on thin ice. now, I just don't see it, no matter how bad of a start they get off to.

Further, even under Bill with Brady here, they had some real clunker of games. They played well vs Cincy and well enough to win vs Seattle. I am not saying they are going to make a run, but I expect better effort than this going forward.

Exactly. Although Jacoby has not turned the ball over he hasn't done anything that is conducive to winning either. Drake starting even with this O line gives us a better shot.
Drake got sacked two times and only played 16 snaps... wtf are you talking about. Keep him on the bench, the only thing that could make this season worse is getting him hurt now.

I met one of the people on 98.5 and told him I don't listen to his show. He asked me why and I told him basically what you said. I also added that they don't cover sports from anywhere outside Boston, which I feel they should.

You called Brissett "above average". Yikes

There's a reason why he has "no turnovers" and it's not because of skill.

He was close to being hurt on one of his sacks when the DL slammed him backwards to the turf. That was when I started to rethink the idea of getting him in there. If they had even a semblance of an OL it might be different, but they clearly don't right now.

I'm in Buffalo and actually listen to their stuff because they are sane and I like to hear analysis about football and hockey. They never do the stuff you hear on 98.5
