Why? Explain your reasoning.

If you make the 2 you are down 7. If you miss the 2 you were going to need 2 more scores, and you found out now so you can play the rest of the game with that knowledge.

What is better about taking 1?

This doesn't account for the time on the clock.

They didn't have time to chase 2 possessions.

All the more reason they needed to know if 2 possessions were needed.

And 2 more possessions were needed because they didn’t convert the 2.

They needed to go for two on that TD or if they got another one, what's the difference?

The difference is they lost the game doing it the first time when who knows what happens the second time around.

If you're arguing they needed to go for it now as opposed to later so they knew what they was chasing then my argument was they didn't have the time. Which they did not.

Unless that Snake Mayo is fired this offseason, I do not see any situation where we are not the worst team in the league again next year. Not only are we going to have the number 1 pick in this upcoming draft, I truly believe we will also have the number 1 pick in the 2026 draft. I truly can’t fathom any free agent have any interest in joining this team: it’s virtually career-suicide.

So here’s the question: how much does Maye have to progress in the next year and a half for the Patriots not to consider drafting Arch Manning? Not saying it’ll happen (I’ve liked what I’ve seen from him), but if May has a Mac Jones-like sophomore season, do you consider drafting Manning?

It’s probably a moot point though as Arch would likely pull an Eli in the draft.

Relax it isn’t this bad dude.

Smh. Andy. I know you know football better than that.

How did they not have the time? There were 9 minutes left.

Are you saying don’t go for 2 because it’s better to not manage the clock for what you really need to score and it’s better to have hope longer and lose than to know what you have to do?

Explain it to me. Under what circumstances is it better?

If you make the 2 why not get it now?

If you miss it, don’t want to know one more score won’t be enough?

What do you gain by taking 1? No one has given a reason, and it seems the reason is you are comparing missing it now to pretending you would make it later which is silly.

They should have taken the 1, then they have a chance of a 2 to tie it up.
Leaving yourself with 2 scores to try and Win is fkn pathetic.
I understand the reasoning, I just don't agree with it.
I'm Just a Guy.

Running out of time is a pathetic excuse, once the score is made, the clock stops.
Stupidity is rampant, we can't stop the run.
Period, that's a Period.

I think what’s more disheartening than anything is Mayes career is on a similar trajectory to Mac’s in regards to changing of OC’s. Justified or not AVP will be the scapegoat after the season and be fired leaving Maye with a new play caller and scheme to learn.

I give AVP credit in terms of Mayes development so far.

I would have been skeptical before today. Now, after watching this game, I wouldn’t dare be skeptical.
And our evaluations would be considerably different if Bentley were playing. The entire game would have been different.

AVP just isn’t a good coach. Never has been. Maye deserves credit for his development and he’d probably be further along with a good coach.

i am not sure what mayo thinks his job was . Have a great team and let them play and just be incharge of timeouts and 4th downs ? Its his job to get them ready during the week. His pressers give the impression otherwise
He needs to step in and work with the Defensive coaches.

If your run defense is dependent upon Bentley to not stink, your run defense stinks. Bentley has always taken crap on this board right up until he could be made a scapegoat.

The scheme, the DTs, the edge players, all the LBs are all issues.

Yesterday we were playing a 3 man front with Jennings at DE. Ekuakle is playing 80% of the snaps. Jacqueline Roy is playing major snaps. Christian Ellis is a starting LB. I could have found 20 FAs at the vet minimum that are better than the guys we are putting out there.

It’s a complete disaster.

How do you know he isn’t? Do you think he’s coaching offense?

So playing as if you need 1 score when you really need 2 makes sense to you?
You are, rightfully, saying it’s a completely different game if you have to score twice and then say you should bury your head in the sand and pretend you only have to score once, when you can get the answer early. Why would you not want it?
