NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION 2022 NFL Playoff Sunday - Wild Card Round

Yeah I wouldn’t go for Hopkins and Higgins both. It’d be nice to also keep Meyers but that may be hard financially. Maybe they do, knowing they won’t keep both of Parker and Bourne past 2023 - just one. Whoever they keep would be the WR3 or 4 so probably not a big contract value at that point. And that’s assuming Thornton or another drafted WR doesn’t ascend.
Sorry I meant an either or not both. But that would be sick!

Assuming it is Bill O'Brien, Hopkins won't come here.
Hard to say. Hopkins has said publicly that their relationship issue was overblown by the media. That said, I’m sure it doesn’t help.

Beyond that, there was a report earlier today by Bedard saying O’Brien is not super keen on the job so… maybe it doesn’t matter.

The Meyers situation is frustrating. They don't have a guy who finds a way to get open, so if they lose him, they're basically left trying to find that shifty type of player because it's not Bourne. Hopefully, they at least figure out a way to meet in the middle and keep him.
Well on the bright side, that is one of the few areas in the WR realm that they seem to have a good grasp of evaluating. The rest...well not so much

You're right, but the guy was right there. It would have been different if there was space between he and the DB to make a play and elude him, but that wasn't the case.

I'm usually a "You ALWAYS throw past the sticks!" guy. But, in this case, they built in the short field check down, so I can't blame Cousins for using it if downfield was all defended. That's why I asked if anyone was open (it was a legit question, as I didn't re-watch the play to look).

I don't disagree. But as I have said before, you don't give a dude who relies as much on his legs as he does his arm a fully guaranteed contract at those numbers. That is nonsensical. Then add in the time he has missed and any GM that makes that deal with very little doubt just set his organization up failure.
I agree about paying him with his play style (but then again starting over is wors) but then they should have traded him way earlier.

To me Kyler's contract was malpractice. Beyond his play not justifying it, his style and size will mean a short career or an injury plagued one.

It was 3 yards past the LoS, on a 4th and 8. It was essentially a checkdown, hoping hockenson would break a tackle and gain 5. It's something you try on 3rd down, not 4th.

Meyers and Bourne are interesting because they are good in opposite ways. Meyers gets open but is poor after the catch. Bourne is not great at getting open, but is dynamic with the ball in his hands and very good after the catch.

Meyers has said he wants to stay, at least, but the WR market is really bad this year so I have a hard time seeing him not getting a good offer. Hopefully NE can offer him some solid guaranteed money and keep him around.

I know, but it's not like he hit Hockenson in stride and he got tackled. He had his back turned to the DB, and the guy was literally right behind him and wrapped him up as he caught it. He didn't even have time to turn around.

If you're going to throw short, you sort of least have to get it out immediately so the guy can make a play with his feet to try and pick up the extra yards. Cousins should have seen he was late getting it out and instead taken a chance with somebody else downfield. He never gave Hockenson a chance to do anything with it.

C'mon Rats just play well enough to make this game entertaining

I think we're going to be two passing trains on this, but I'll phrase my response in such a way as to maybe find a bit of agreement:

Why the hell did the route have the receiver on such a short route?

Risky going for this. I’d take the 3

LOL, that's an excellent question.

This was the reception:

Hockenson had absolutely no shot to do anything with it after he caught it.

The beef on the ravens o-line. Wow

That was a very generous spot

Lol. Vikings are garbage!

Was hilarious how Florio (Vikings fan) went out of his way to call out Cousins on national TV 5 mins after. He must have been livid.

Game is close
