I’d love him here next to Barmore for the next 5+ years, but it won’t happen.Quite a few sites now have us dropping to Pick 22 , but still the same positions are touted mainly WR or CB and a few with NT Jordan Davis
Yes, that would be a great combo of players !!.....I did read somewhere that Davis is thought by some as only a run defender but the videos I watched seemed to show him in a good light in both pass or run defence. Could he stay on the field for 3 or 4 downs ?I don’t think we will get anywhere near Davis. Even at 22. I’d love him here next to Barmore for the next 5+ years, but it won’t happen.
I think he can be a 3 down player in the league, but he will start out as a run stuffer.Yes, that would be a great combo of players !!.....I did read somewhere that Davis is thought by some as only a run defender but the videos I watched seemed to show him in a good light in both pass or run defence. i guess he would command a double team which would free up Barmore who is often double teamed this year. That would be a great duo but i doubt Davis last that long.Yes, that would be a great combo of players !!.....I did read somewhere that Davis is thought by some as only a run defender but the videos I watched seemed to show him in a good light in both pass or run defence. Davis will no be taken with a first before say mid to high 20s pick so actually where Pats draft, BGC mentioned that you would not draft a "only run stoper" in the first round, but I am not sure, if lets say Gardner is gone by the time the Pats draft I'd go with Davis in the late 20s if I am the petriots, WR can be picked later as well quite a deep group
only a top OL, LB or CB (press man) would be higher on my list on the first round than Davis as NT considering the Patriots team (needs) for next year
I'd take that betJordan Davis has a drool-enducing combination of size and athleticism. The only reason he is not projected in the top 5 is his conditioning. He has not been rotated by the Georgia staff situationally(run-stuffer only) but after every 2 plays because he fatigues quickly. The gamble with him is whether a team's nutrition and conditioning staff can improve his stamina enough to stay in the game.
I would too, but I worry about him ending up in a dumpster-fire organization like the Raiders/Bengals/Lions.I'd take that bet
I like the R1 pick , must admit I will have to go and research the others...duh....thanks for the info/picksAs of the best down by Buffalo, we are currently picking 22nd overall. Based on current needs:
1st round wr Wilson Ohio state - depending on how he runs, he had the skills jones desperately needs at the position, He can play the x and push agular to the z.
2nd round de hall Houston - hall is incredibly versatile, a perfect bb defender. we need to face facts, uche, winovich and wise can not find an opposing qb, even with military grade gps! Wise plays because, outside of judon, we have no defender that can set a hard edge in the running game. Hall can rush the passer from the outside or the interior, but is also a solid run defender.
3rd round - cb Taylor of tenn. He plays well in zone and can play press man. He is also a decent tackler.
4th round - ot Mitchell of Louisiana. He red shirts and gains weight and strength while Wynn plays out his 5th year.
6th round - rb pierce of Florida. White is on the decline and we have nothing in development.
6th round cb Durant of sc state. This guy has been incredible coverage skills, but needs a little time and coaching to get stronger and play smarter.
0% chance Pats pick WR is 1st roundMost have the Pats picking at 22 but there are a couple showing 26 and 29 which are maybe not fully updated
Pats Positions Picked : 4 x CB , 1 x DL , 1 x LB , 2 x S and 7 x WR
HOPEFUL for a Trent Brown return, whether it's on another 1 year deal or something longer (2-3 years)...Wynn we're stuck with for another year...He's not bad at all, just very inconsistent...weirdly having his worst season now...Could very well go OT first round0% chance Pats pick WR is 1st round
Pats are a "run first 2 TE/FB, short passes" offense with two WR pieces financially entrenched with the team and RFA Meyers as their most reliable pass catcher.
I suspect BB may seek out a bonafide veteran slot WR either through FA or via trade.
More plausible early round targets in no particular order:
OT......Brown will be a FA, Wynn is shaky and has 1 year left on contract
DT......BB can't continue to let RBs gash through his DL
CB.....Even if JC Jackson & the DB starters all return, BB can't continue to play zone vs legit passing offenses
LB.....Aging/slow/retiring (?) LBs need replacin/refreshing
Necessity (OT,DT,CB,LB) vs luxury (#1 WR)
One of the common denominators during Patriots' losses this season was the defense's inability to make stops in the 4th qtr that would allow the offense another shot at producing points.I don't see DT as such a big need: Godchaux has been very solid and Barmore is a future star, if a propsect like Davis is there however, I'm 1000% on board
