2021 NFL Free Agency/Trade News & Discussion: April Edition

No. Darnold is as of right now a complete bust who has shown nothing viable as an NFL starter. Jimmy is an average starter who can have moments that also has health issues. There’s no way Jimmy is valued the same
Darnold is cheap though and Jimmy is very expensive. People always seem to have a hard time factoring the money portion into the equation.

Darnold requires extending the 5th year option. Jimmy isn’t that expensive in a world where franchise QB’s are making over 30 million

Well Darnold was cheap, $4.8 million, but the Panthers picked up his 5th year which is $18.858 million guaranteed now.

Carolina are unlikely to keep Teddy now they have given up draft picks for Darnold.

Where does Teddy get traded to? Possibly Denver? If so this removes another team looking for a QB in the draft. But it does seem that only two QBs (TL and ZW) are really worth a high first round pick. Trey Lance seems raw and Justin Fields has been accused of not being focussed on working hard. Mac Jones might be great but he has limitations.

Would Coach Bill draft Trey Lance and sit him a year if he's there at 15?

As long as you think Jimmy is a franchise qb. If you don't think he is then he is very expensive.

People also forget Darnold is still very young. 23 years old. He can be turned around. Jimmy probably is what he is by now, he's still in his prime but he's probably not going to get a lot better than he is today.

If Lance miraculously fell to 15? Absolutely. Take Lance without hesitation. I’d even say it’s more likely the Pats trade up a few spots to ensure nobody else trades ahead of them. Unfortunately it would probably mean another year of Newton and Stidham as the 1 and 2 on the depth chart, with Lance redshirting. Newton would then be gone next year in free agency. Stidham at this point would be Zolak, a backup who is familiar with the system but not someone you give the keys to unless it’s an emergency. Lance would be the QB1 next year in that scenario.

How long did Rothlesberger get suspended for? That’s probably what Watson is looking at. After that, he might be grateful that he still has a job with the Texans. At this point, we have no idea whether he’s still going to claim that the Texans are the idiots in that relationship. And once he’s served his suspension, he’ll still be worth a boatload if the Texans want to trade him before next year’s draft.
That's not an equal comparison. 21 instances reportedly for DW, and around one (or so?) against Roethlishelmet.

Carolina has already stated that Bridgewater and Darnold are going to battle it out for the starting job.. Why is it that people automatically think that a team is going to jettison a veteran just because they pick up a youngster? Bridgewater is scheduled to make less than JimmyG so having him to back-up Darnold isn't a bad thing.

And why do people like you think that Denver is, all of a sudden, looking for a QB?

As for your assessments of the top 5 QBs in the draft, they seem to run contrary to what most knowledgeable draftniks are saying.. Where have you seen that Fields is accused of not working hard?

ALL the players have limitations. Saying that Jones has them is like saying water is wet.

Ehhhh money and wins are all the teams care about . When it all dies down, I find it hard to believe 1 out of the 32 teams wouldn’t take a chance. Each situation is different but it’s been shown time and time again that guys teams believe can contribute will play

This is not someone with drug issues or some banal law problems like a DUI. There are over 20 women claiming he assaulted them sexually.

There is no other incident in the history of the league even close to the ****burger that Watson has in front of him with all signs pointing to him repeatedly assaulting women with what looks like an established, repeated pattern.

Keep in mind owners think about the long term viability of the league which acts as a money printer for them much more than about individuals even if they have borderline HoF talent.

I think some folks have not fully grasped how serious this is.

We are 5 years Away from woman head coaches and GMs this won’t fly. Watson’s career is done If he is guilty of half of what he is being accused of. I don’t get how he can’t find a female companion either a escort or I dunno are you too busy to kick some Instagram game if I can pull 8s to 10 on insta then surely a NFL player especially a franchise QB could. I don’t care if he looks like Clay Matthews.

Dunno. I would wait for Watson's day in court. And Vick was able to return to the league. Sexual assault is ugly....but at least it isn't a rape accusation like Big Ben.

Yikes. Sounds like a super ugly scene, if true.

From a draft perspective, add Minn to the teams who may take a CB in round 1. Gladney was pick 31 last year.

The Justin Fields work ethic story has been around for the past week. It's been discussed on all major sites/shows. Just search for it.
Plenty of mock drafts have Denver selecting a QB - perhaps they won't but they certainly don't look like they've got a franchise player at the moment.
Bridgewater might be kept around but I'm pretty sure if another team comes in with an offer of draft picks for him he'll be moved straightaway. Carolina have just taken the option on Darnold's contract next season which pays $18m. There's no way he's not going to be the starter next year. You don't need a QB competition in camp you need a better O-line and weapons for Darnold and he's just cost you draft picks so ship Teddy out and recoup some of those picks.

It's amazing seeing a guy recovering from a serious knee injury who can keep up on a treadmill at that pace, where I would have been shot through the back wall at that speed.

its almost as if he gets paid to be an athlete who works on his body all day, and whom also has access to elite sports medicine.
