Checkmate indeed.....NOT. Did you watch any film on the guy ? Besides the lack of speed being a negative, I noticed he is VERY handsy, which with the new PATRIOT’S rule (they only mentioned a play in the SB for the new rule) Williams will be a yellow flag machine. May be able to get away with that in college, but not in the NFL anymore. Also noticed, he has the “doesn’t turn around for the ball disease”, which plagued many bad Patriot’s DBs in the past. I love our DBs now, we are well stocked, therefore I hated the move, missing out on key offensive weapons this team needs, especially in an elite TE class, especially at the top end.

If the Pats were trading up for a CB, the only one worth trading up for at that moment, was Greedy Williams, Who is also big, but a much better athlete who depends on his speed, 6’2” 185 and ran a 4.37. Which would allow him to cover all types of receivers. Nowhere but on the Pat’s draft board, was Williams rated above Greedy Williams. Not surprisingly, Greedy went the pick after JoeJuan.

Look, I’m a Patriot’s fan first, I’ll be rooting for JoeJuan like crazy, I hope he becomes the next Gilmore. But I don’t see it. I am thinking, even at 4.55 speed (improved from 4.6), best case scenario, he switches to safety. Which will be a big need with McCourty and Chung getting up there in years.

But it wasn’t needed THIS year. And I thought it was a bad move, especially with key elite offensive weapons still there and needed.

Dude if you think Joejuan Williams is grabby and Greedy Williams would have been a better pick as a result, you should probably watch Grabby... shoot, I mean Greedy... play some more

You may remember me as the recovered alcoholic in the Josh Gordon thread.

Seriously and sincerely, congratulations! It's a wonderful thing.

Man, I WISH I had a MacBook Air ! I have changed the JoeSlow name to SlowJuan. Sounds more natural and more like his real name. Hopefully it’s more clever in your eyes than the prior iteration.

P.S.-How do we know Belichick doesn’t have Pornhub bookmarked ? Just sayin. I mean even those of us with cute girlfriends, enjoy a little porn now and then, sometimes the girlfriends enjoy it as well.
How does it work to call yourself a fan of a team and actively root against them and trash them?

That’s setting aside the fact that Greedy doesn’t really care for the tackling part of playing defense, which means that he probably wasn’t even on the board for Belichick.

How many years should one age a bottle of Buckfast in a wine cellar?
Does the fact that it doesn’t have a cork help or harm its shelf life? I realize that the idea itself has some tongue in cheek qualities to it, but I’m wondering if the fact that it’s screw top may actually allow it to last longer, since you wouldn’t need to worry about it getting corked.

By all accounts Greedy Williams hates to tackle, and he’s not Deion Sanders.
Don't worry, John Dorsey said corners are paid to cover, not tackle. Just like when John Dorsey said to trust them when they selected Tyreek Hill. We all know how that worked out...o_O

How do I actively root against the Pats ? I've been a fan since 1975. Got my first Pat's jersey for Christmas in 1976 (#18 Randy Vataha), I was the only New Yorker I knew who had a Pat's jersey. I bleed Patriot's red, white and blue. I cry tears of joy when they win Super Bowls. WTF are you talking about ?

I didn't like the SlowJuan pick, and I'm allowed to second guess it (as I have in the past, and I'm sure I will in the future). And I'm allowed to say so in a Patriot's MESSAGEBOARD. I believe we are still in America and are allowed to disagree with things.

You are beside yourself trying to trash the pick and the draft.

You aren’t second guessing or questioning you are railing on that it’s a failure refusing to listen to the positives before the player takes the field.

Very curious comment.
Where did I say you weren’t allowed to?
Is my right to disagree with you and feel you are being stupid any less a right than yours to have your opinion ?

Yup, I am trashing the pick. I don’t always feel they make the right pick. Hopefully I’m proven wrong. But as a fan, it’s my right to agree or disagree with a pick. Doesn’t mean my love for the team has ever wavered. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

I’ve been wrong way more than I’ve been right, hopefully I’m wrong. Been following Pat’s drafts since the Mike Haynes/Tim Fox/Stan Brock draft of 1976.

Well, pretty much everyone ("experts") is putting the Pats in the top 5 draft class this year, many putting them on top.

Considering their first original rounders have been 32, 31, 32 the last three years, I'd say it was a good weekend.

Yes you are wrong way more than you are right. Perhaps you might learn from that.

"No wine before its time!", as I think you say in America. :)

I think you are missing the biggest whine in America though..."when are we going to Ft. Lauderdale???????????"..followed by the second biggest "you want me to suck WHAT?????"

I realize I am late to the party, but I would think this kid stands a real shot at making the team. Where is his downside?

CALVIN ANDERSON, OL, TEXAS

Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 292 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.28 seconds*
Bench press: 30*
Vertical jump: 31 inches*
Broad jump: 112 inches*
Three-cone drill: 7.20 seconds*
Short shuttle: 4.45 seconds*

Anderson started for three years at left tackle for Rice, graduated with a degree in mathematical economics, then started all 12 games at left tackle for Texas as a grad transfer in 2018. He’s a great athlete — his three-cone and shuttle times would have been the best and second-best among O-linemen at the combine, respectively — who projects as a guard at the NFL level. Brandt ranked him as the third-best undrafted interior offensive lineman.

The 23-year-old has smarts, too, as one would expect from a Rice graduate. He can solve a Rubik’s Cube behind his back.
