Some had Tate as 1st rounder, fell to 7th, now waived. Big play, RZ monster when healthy in college..

quite expensive RB move . esp. for a vet 3.2 ypc (2.4 last game) with not much rec.
Trashtalk/SB bound Jags fall quickly to desperate mode.. Chubb time in CLE..

That could be a very nice get for the Jags, if Hyde bounces back to something more like his career norm.

of all the teams i didn't expect to trade for a RB, Jax was near the top of the list. Fournette must be more banged up then i thought

It will cost them 1.2m dollars as a cap hit. Seems to be reasonable enough considering their need for a RB and the fact that he’ll almost certainly be a one year rental.

Don't know if I'd be willing to part with a 5th-rounder (or a 4th if Cleveland ass-umed that our draft position would be lower than JAX's and therefore demanded a higher pick) or if I could afford him anyway, but Hyde is exactly the Clock-Killer I'd still like to have here.

he's the guy who was in a tandem with Sony Michel in Georgia, right? Will be interesting to see how he does.

Tank Carradine. Now that's a name I haven't seen in a bit. I remember many being high on him during the draft. What happened to him since?
Injuries, mostly. Any pass-rushing skills he once might've had are now gone.

Sony was tandem with Nick Chubb, whom he outperformed in the championship playoff game.

Hyde was at OSU.

I actually watched the highlights of both of them. Hard to say if he was out performed or not. Chubb didn't have a lot of holes to run through. Although I will say Sony was able to piledrive a defender on one play to get some yards. Will be cool to see though.

Carradine (6041/275) went through the same coaching carousel chaos in SFO that (6050/250) Aaron Lynch did - 4 different DCs and 4 different systems in 4 seasons after both players were drafted by the Niners in 2014.

In 2014, it was Vic Fangio's 3-4.
- Carradine played only 145 snaps (9 games active) as a reserve edge rusher (17 tkls, 3 sks).
- Lynch played 515 snaps (50%) in 16 games active as a "semi-stater" OLB (23 tkls, 6 sks, 14 QBH, 4 PD).

In 2015, it was Mangini's 3-4.
- Carradine was listed as a DT and played 223 snaps in 14 games (22 tkls, 1 sk)
- Lynch was even more successful, playing 793 snap (70%) in 14 games at OLB (38 tkls, 6.5 sks, 21 QBH, 3 PD).

In 2016, it was Jim O'Neil's 3-4.
- Carradine played 232 snaps in 13 games as a reserve DT/DE/OLB (18 tkls).
- After coming off a 4-game suspension, Lynch did fairly well for three games before an ankle injury caused him to miss the next five. He played 222 snaps total for the season (13 tkls, 1.5 sks, 6 QBH), some from ROLB.

In 2017, the Niners switched to the 4-3 under Robert Saleh.
- Carradine's role increased as a rotational 4-3 DE. He played 214 snaps (avg ~40%) in only 8 games, missing the middle of the season with an ankle injury, but had 19 tkls and 1.5 sks.
- Meanwhile, Lynch also missed 4 mid-season games with a calf issue. Even so, he was squeezed into a reserve/rotational 4-3 DE role, and his snap counts were drastically reduced to under 30% in the 7 games he was active (still, 9 tkls, 2 sks, 5 QBH in just 157 snaps).

In 2018,
- Carradine got picked up by Gruden in Oakland for Paul Guenther's 4-3 (a switch from the 3-4 that Khalil Mack had played under). Carradine played one game, 24 snaps (1 tkl), before being released on 10/6 when CB Daryl Worley returned from League Susupension.
- Lynch ended up back with Fangio's 3-4 in CHI this season, where he appears to be doing very well again in pretty much the same role he had as a rookie in 2014. He has 8 tkls, 2 sks, 5 QBH and a pick in 130 snaps (41%) for the Bears at OLB.

The Pats will, of course, face Lynch and Fangio's 3-4 tomorrow.

Not really injured much - just the ankle thing last season, really.

Seems more like a couple different DC's couldn't figure out how to get the most out of him, but he did okay under a couple of others. I'm not saying that he's any "diamond in the rough", but Carradine might actually work out okay in the Pats hybrid scheme as a reserve/rotational DE, especially if Simon ends up in more of an OLB role (once he's healthy again).

Why not IR him if you really don't want to lose him ? Gives him enough time to heal and you get a roster spot for immediate help. Would not be surprised if he lands with the Browns who seem to walk on thin ice when it comes to WRs.

EDIT:

(or keep him inactive as Lombardi suggests)

What happened to not being allowed to release injured players without a settlement?
