oh I think we are going to see a lot of HT on the edge in passing situations.
And I think he will be as productive as any "34 OLB" in the league.

Could be. Everything he's done,he's done well: runstopper, interior rushing, coverage, some linited outside rushing, running the d.
He also did some at bama. I don't doubt he could be a superior edge rusher. But he's so valuable at so many other things, I don't think you'll see him exclusively at olb. The need is there, so I do think he'll play more olb than he ever has b4, but not exclusively.

Rivers is under contract, he would not go through waivers if put on IR. Teams like to cut players and then put them on IR to save money. Contract is contract

I don't know if the new cut down protocol changes things, but in prior seasons non-vested vets did indeed pass through waivers if the team tried to place them on IR before trimming to 75.

If a version of this rule is still in place, it is likely a better explanation for the slow IR trigger than any optimism for a return this year.

This is not the point. Of course there are no waivers if he stays on the 53 through cuts and then gets placed on IR.

The question some people had is whether we have to keep him initially on the 53 and cut a bubble player because Rivers takes up a slot on the 53 until he is formally moved to IR. And the answer to that is yes.

This is only true if they want him to return later this year. He won't be subject to waivers during (that's the operative word) final cuts.

Ah yes, High is back on the field!!!
