2017 Pre-Training Camp ROSTER MOVEMENT Thread:

I think in the NFL.

I mean he is a fullback which already limits the number of suitors and was all year unclaimed on the Patriots PS. Maybe someone signs him to a futures contract and he gets cut in the preseason but if that happens its based on his name alone.

Looks to me like the Pats did the Gronk family a solid. Incredibly, he will get a SB ring out of it.
Dont get why their was a delay but I guess we were a bit early on baby gronk.

Yep. I blew that one.

A quick post mortem: My thought process was that there is no reason for the Patriots to not offer him a future contract when they send them out to everyone else given that the roster limit is lifted. That made me assume that they saw "enough" of him. And then when he didn't sign with anyone else it led me to believe that -- similar to the other Gronk brother we once had on our team -- he would just call it a career. Because if you can't even get any future deal offers then there really is no market for you.

I am not sure what the delay was all about but good for Baby Gronk. I am still in that cynical mindset though where I think this is more a favor to "the Gronks" than anything else. Hope I am also wrong on that one.

I'm ready for another offseason of people grossly overestimating Gaffney (although I'd be happy if he actually did pan out).

He's going to have a breakout year, taking most of the carries away from Blount, White, and Lewis. I think he's the illegitimate child of Barry Sanders and Jim Brown. Will give Brady another ten years because he'll only have to throw 10-15 times a game.

Tyler Gaffney- 2 Superbowl Rings
Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, O.J. Simpson & Tomlinson- NONE

You could be party right in that Glenn Gronk was looking around the league for a better opportunity make a clubs active roster and there were no real offers so he signed the Patriots Futures deal. Because if he makes the team next year its likely going to be on the practice squad again

How sad that what you posted is true.

Of course, Jimmy G has the same number of rings as Peyton Manning too, we can only imagine how many he'll get when he is finally a starting QB.

Just having some fun thinking out loud here but If JG wins a SB as a starting QB the Sport show graphics would list him as a 3 time SB champion above five head. Curious of what kind reaction that would create.

I don't feel like people give Steve Young credit for his two as a backup.

Perhaps that day (or off-season) has passed. Personally I had forgotten about him to the point that when I saw you write "Gaffney" the only person I could think of was the former wide receiver. I literally had to scroll back up to the original post to see who you were referring to.

As long as he's on this roster, the dream will be alive for some.

Seriosly Kilgore and Hamilton are great depth. Barkers been on a long time. Time has shown experienced OL under Scarneccia can go from also rans to valuable contributors.
