2017 Draft Prospect Thread

As did Howard Wilson.

And:

Brian Allen, Utah
Budda Baker (almost - 6.76)
Marlon Humphrey
John Johnson
Desmond King
Kevin King
Xavier Woods

In this class alone with Baker, K King and Humphrey all potential first rounders.

Among Patriots DBs, there's also ...

Coleman 6.61 (3.98 shuttle)
**Daryl Roberts 6.66
**Ryan 6.69

Rowe 6.70 (3.97 shuttle)
Cy Jones 6.71

(Ebner had a 6.59 3-cone).

Trent Taylor. I like him as a possible Julian Edelman replacement/backup when the time comes

Tyus Bowser sack compilation. Don't picture him as an every down pass rusher but as a Jamie Collins style linebacker and look at his explosion and cod skills.

I keep dreaming of acquiring some 2nd rounders and going for an all-upside type of defensive draft with Willis and Bowser leading the way. Doesn't seem likely, but it's fun to think about the potential of our defense with an infusion of speed and versatility.

I'm hoping for 11 then trade back and pick up a 2nd and then get Conley and Bowser. But your way works for me too as long as we then get Howard Wilson or Corn Elder.

So Myles Garret with the first pick when the Brown trade for Jimmy G right? ;)

Unlikely. But I still maintain the if the Browns get Garrett and Jimmy G, nothing else really matters for them. That's a great draft regardless.

Inpressed with Michigan RB De'Veon Smith as a blocker. He's nothing special athletically but runs physically and finishes every run. Could have a chance to make the team as 4th RB and potential Blount replacement as a short yardage and 4th Q physical back.

Based on a review of a half-dozen post-Combine rankings (not mocks), Smith looks like maybe 7th round or UDFA at the moment, although a couple still have him the late-5th/early-6th range.

Another point in Smith's favor is his ball security, a really valuable feature for a game-finisher and short-yardage/TD specialist (where defenders are especially going to be trying to rip the ball out). Smith fumbled only once in his last 197 touches.

Yup. He's not a number one guy but he's very solid which is all we really need. As long as he can special team, he'd be a quality depth addition.

Just listened to Mike Lombardi on the Ringer podcast and he killed Jabrill Peppers. Basically said that he can't play linebacker cover 3 safety or CB. Said Michigan were hiding him on their defense by playing him close to the line, that all his highlight reel plays were unblocked and that there's no way any team will have a first round grade on him. Also went on to say that Delano Hill who I like as a SS option was better.

Very interesting. I obviously respect his opinion, but I think Peppers has what it takes to thrive in the Chung role. Similar size, similar responsibilities in college (not a ton of safeties are the returners), and similar high-energy teammates. If Lombardi is right, though, that just means Peppers drops to a range where we have a shot. I'd be intrigued to see him in this defense / special teams unit.

I think too many people are bedazzled by the measureables and not watching enough tape. This guy is putrid. Just say no! Let the jets draft him.
