2 patriots ranked dead last in positions by PFF - 2024 season

Had to do a double take here.....Would not have guessed Hooper would have ranked this high.

I think the stat is a bit deceiving though. Henry was on the field a lot more - and in a complete all-around TE function.
Considering our last place offense, for him to 18th isn't horrible. But Hooper was a good #2, I just worry that both of them are getting old - and not fast at all.

Numbers don't lie in one area - Wise, Godchaux, Tavai - were pretty bad.
It's really about "non-complimentary" football though. The worse a certain position is, the worse others look.
But, the eye test was clear - the Front 7 were just BAD.

Three linemen... each who played significant minutes...

Tells you what? The Line NEEDS to be addressed in both free agency and the draft... It isn't a sexy pick like the wrecking ball from Penn State, but we should use the 4 hole to take the best LT available in the draft... particularly in light of this being a terrible class of OT free agents...

this is just ugly to see

The line of scrimmage must be priority #1. If they can't win the LoS, they cannot win period. I know there's a large swath of people want wideouts. The line has to be fixed first. That doesn't mean they can't do both, but it's really hard to do.

Really hoping the Vrabel addition helps lure guys. I guess it cannot hurt, because the free agency was a joke last year.

I agree. Henry has taken some shots since he has come to Foxboro and they both are getting older(30). It would be nice to have them hang around at least another year if not two to help bring up the young tight ends. The TE room was the only bright spot on the offense last season outside of Maye.

And Ellis is a Free agent.

I was lauding his effort and energy all year.
Restricted rights free agent... at the very least he will get a right of first refusal tender (projected to be $3185,000)... but I'd be fine with the second round tender (ptb $5,217,000)

Two thoughts here:
1. He was an UDFA, so they get nothing if he signs an offer sheet the Pats decline to match.
2. The RFA tender is 0% guaranteed, and can be replaced with a new contract for more (or less).

i did not know number 1. thank you.

still, i don't think any contract he signs regardless, would have qualified for compensation

Thru should bring the kid back,Id like to see more schooler on defense, let him be that hybrid safety outside coverage linebacker.
If he put on 15-20 pounds he could be a player there
My thinking on that is let’s get players who give their all and play with their hair on fire more opportunities.

Lowe being 69 of 81 means 4 of the 5 starters had no business being NFL starters.
Precisely.
When people like myself have been yelling all year 'these guys can't play', this is exactly what we were talking about.

So probably 4 ol slots will need considerable upgrades. Perhaps layden improves year 2. Wallace is pretty much an unknown.

At the very least you need to invest in 2 new tackles and pray for andrews and strange to be healthy next year, or layden makes a leap.

I’m not sure there was anyone who wasn’t yelling that (other than people employed by the patriots)

Dugger missed four games, he ranked 2nd on the team in tackles, solo tackles and led the entire team in tackles for a loss.... but he played poorly?

PFF player grades are complete trash... used toilet paper.

We need math nerds explaining football to us about as much as we need chimps teaching us rocket science.
