2-5.. Am I the only one who is okay with this?

The only thing that upsets me about 2-5 is that Belichick is being so stubborn about keeping Cam in there. Honestly, what coach would leave his QB in there when he’s statistically the worst QB in the NFL ? That is a Jet like move. That’s my only frustration.

The Stidham situation has been mismanaged since Cam signed. They were saying great things about Stidham all offseason, saying he’s making great progress, we feel good about Stidham, blah blah blah. Then they sign Cam, and basically never gave Stidham a chance. Then the season starts, and they don’t even dress him for the first few games. So they ****ed with his confidence.

BUT, if it were Stidham who wasn’t in the top 20 in passing yards, if it were Stidham not in the top 30 (TOP THIRTY !) in TD passes, if it were Stidham who was tied for 2nd in INTS, you know damned well Stidham would be getting benched.

That’s where my frustration lies with 2-5. If Cam were playing great, or even above average for an NFL QB, I’d be ok with 2-5. But he’s just a bad QB, and there’s no accountability.

There are two types of teams in the nfl, those franchises with a franchise qb and all the rest of the franchises.

we have next to no chance to be relavant again, until we get a franchise qb!

Lawrence is the best qb to come through the college ranks since Peyton. He could be spectacular in our offense.
I like how you put this regarding having a franchise QB. It's the bottom line. But, the Jete are significantly worse than us talent wise and have a two game lead in the Lawrence sweepstakes. I'd be shocked if we lost to them this weekend but I guess stranger things have happened.

Am I okay with it... no. Am I angry about it... no. I understood this season would be different and that was even before the opt outs. Your team is going to take a giant step back when it loses a player of Brady's caliber, on the field and in the locker room.

With that said, I did expect more from Cam Newton. I didn't expect MVP Newton, but I expected more. I thought his signing made NE a legit competitve team again. I expected an OC of Josh's reputation to be able to tailor the O to Cam's strengths. But he's been below average and the receiver position is still in disarray.

I predicted 10-6 and felt really good about that once Cam was signed. In retrospect, predicting that record when we knew nothing of Stidham was dumb on my part. I bought the hype that they liked him so much. Stidham is terrible. I just didn't fathom NE let the situation with Brady deteriorate the way it did with no plan. But that's exactly what happened. So if I'm upset, it's about things like that, not necessarily that we're not at the top of the league.

We need a franchise QB then surround him with decent weapons. I don’t know if they will be able to get their hands on one. We shall see. These next couple of years will be interesting. Brady is not here to hide some warts.

This team has brought me so much joy over the last 13 years. So many AFC East crowns.. playoffs nearly every season. AFCCG seemed like the norm. Also, superbowl victories. I feel no anger or sadness like so many "haters" predicted the "spoiled" fans would. I still plan to watch this team every week no matter what. Sure, it hasn't been pretty this season, however I'm not sweating it.

Patriots forever. Anybody else feel similar?
"OK" wouldn't be the term I would use. I am never "OK" with rebuilding and losing. More like "resigned to the fact" or "accepting"...

There are many of us here who saw this coming. Brady/BB saga, cap space, age at other positions, etc. 2020 was an eventuality.

I feel the same I do now as I did back in 2000, 1993, and in 1982. I have hope for a better tomorrow and believe there is a plan in place to turn things around.

I kinda felt that way in 1991 when Sam Jankovich and Mac were hired but my god. That did not work out so well.

I agree with you. I want to see Stidham start not because I think he is the next Peyton manning but just to see what he can do over a full game, see if he can at least be a decent backup.

but like many posters have said on this forum the fact that he doesn’t entertain the idea of benching Cam, is quite telling of what they think of Stidham.

I don’t see it unless we have a major outbreak which is unlikely.

it's just getting started.....not sure where your 'unlikely' is coming from given how stupid some people are

I thought we would've been better with cam newton. But as bad as hes looked at times I cant put everything on him.

Just like we shouldn't have put everything on brady last year. Hes being given chicken sh#t at receiver and being told to make chicken salad out of it.

Probably why bill still has faith in him.

I predicted 9-7 - tough schedule, no Brady - with the belief QB play would be at least competent in a new system (it’s not) and still a very good defense (can’t stop the run very well).

I also believe they did have a post Brady plan. He is in SF right now.

It’s not happening. Too much money to lose. Already half way there.

they don't have a say.....if states go back to their 'phase 1', half the league isn't going to be allowed to play.......and that's where we are heading

it's not like I care because all around the leagues, the quality of play sucks the big one....we are close to the point where 'nothing is better than something'

If there was a year to kind of suck, 2020 Covid year is a good one. I said I could die happy as a Pats fan after SB51. THEN we got SB53. I mean...it's been amazing. I just watch with no expectations and it's still fun. Sometimes our guys make good plays, or nice tackles, or hits. Or sometimes I see one of the youngins do something that gives me hope for the future. I can live with that for now.

When it comes to playoff rooting interests, I'm hoping the Cards can do something. That's just my love of my adopted home (Arizona) talking.

Not to mention their coach is a former patriot who spent his brief nfl career actively studying bb and tb

Your thread title - "Am I the only one who is OK with this?" - is ridiculous. The answer is a simple "yes," though there may be a few masochists out there who are with you.

The body of your post I pretty much agree with. I was a fan when they were the Boston Patriots and for the many years following when they were stuck at varying degrees of helplessness. I still cared about every game and rummaged through the mess for hopeful scraps. It'll be interesting to watch them rise again. That said, the only workable basis for hope is honesty about where we are. The team stinks, Cam sucks, Harry blows, Bill the GM bites the big one, Bill the Coach seems adrift. Take it from there.

Great and well said
