Reading the post game thread, and the general atmosphere of the forum, you would think we've missed the playoffs for the fifth straight year. A little perspective doesn't hurt.

This team isn't perfect, but then again, last year we lost to the Steelers with only two remaining games in the regular season, we had a 9-5 record looking DIRE on offense then a few days later, Gordon got suspended. There was no way we could right the ship. It was over. Our receiver #2 and #4, Hogan and Patterson have combined for 11 catches and 63 yards this year for their new teams. Hogan hasn't caught a ball since September. When it mattered, we still got it done.

Appreciate what we have folks. Maybe we win the SB, maybe we don't. This is the 19th straight winning season. The vast majority of teams would kill to have a 9-1 season. Let alone a 9-1 season coming off a SB win and 3 SB wins in the last 5 years.

There was reason to be glum.

The Pats just lost an absolute heart breaker as time expired in Miami. You think, no big deal, Pats don't lose two in a row, and they will use this as a motivation to put a whooping on Pittsburgh.

Except that we didn't.

Offense looks inept
Oh, and news comes out that our offense will be further hampered without Josh Gordon.

So yes, we were disappointed because we came to the reality that we weren't going to be the number one seed and it was a team that couldn't win on the road (3-5 on the road that year).

If you thought they were winning the Super Bowl then you are just overly optimistic instead of realisitc.

But yes, obviously it's nice and appreciated that they gave us a surprise Super Bowl win (really welcomed after some losses as favorites), and we can certainly appreciate our continued success this year, but it still doesn't mean we were wrong to feel disappointed 'that the season was over' after the PIT game last year.

It's true that too an extent the team has become a victim of its own success. The pats have been so successful that anything below an AFC Championship game appearance would be considered a disappointment. For the past 8 years the season feels like it starts in the AFC Championship game and everything before that is just the preseason.

Can always count on one of these posts if everyone doesn’t just whistle past the graveyard on Monday.

Yes, it definitely speaks to how well we've done historically when you point to a specific game as 'remember that game...'.

After all, it doesn't have the same effect on Cleveland forums where they can be like 'remember how you felt after week 1 or 2, 3, 4, 5?'
