PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp - Day 12

I said that bringing in Brown was a mistake. I stand by my statement. They aren't going to get jack s**t for Boutte because Wolf's a moron.

The only reason Boutte asked for a trade was because the Pats sent the signal that they didn't want him. All he's done is come in to camp and play better than all the other receivers.

I'd dump Brown's albatross contract to keep Boutte.
I do think Boutte is being a little overrated. I think he's good at what he does - a deep ball contested catch receiver - but he only had 33 receptions last year. He only had more than three catches in three games last year. Brown had more than double the number of total catches and had more than three catches in 11 games. As I've said, I just don't think Boutte is worth a sizeable contract so keep him this year and then let him walk.

Nah.. That can't be Jacas. People were telling me how much of a stiff he is. How LAZY he is.. That he was going to miss part of the season..
Don’t forget his dishonesty. Total low character guy.

I agree with your point about bringing in AJ. He's no longer the explosive athlete he once was. He's still an effective receiver but I don't believe he should command the same contract as the other #1 WR in the league and have the same number of targets as the #1 WRs in the league. What's gonna happen if Maye doesn't look his way enough? Is he gonna be a problem child like he was in Philly?

Boutte has proven he's dependable, makes tough catches, and is a big play guy. He's way younger and will only get better. Letting him leave would be a dumb move.

We've finnally have 2 homegrown receivers in Boutte and Pop who have shown they are legit NFL receivers, and some posters want them gone smh.

He's good but does the economics work out? If he has a good enough season to make keeping him a necessity, how much do you think he could earn on the open market? More than Doubs I'd wager. And that's assuming he wants to stay; he has asked for a trade after all. The team has Gonzo and Maye to get done. Do they really want 3 big contracts among the WR corps alone at the same time?
He's not coming back after 2026 as the Pats already made the decision when they signed Doubs. This was a panic signing as there was no guarantee Philly would cave. Pats don't have an out on Doubs until after the 2027 season. So there's going to be politics involved here. Do they force the ball to Doubs because of his contract or do they go with the best player between him and Doubs?

Boutte is going to have a better season and then we'll be revisiting this conversation of how can the Pats retain him? This is the Akiem Hicks situation all over again. BB played games because he drafted two DT's in the 1st round round in Easley and Brown. Hicks told BB it was too late and he liked the 3-4 scheme Chicago was going to use. Also similar situation to Smith-Schuster for Meyers.

Gave him the three WRs with the biggest question marks, as I see them.
Maybe they want to see how they fare with Drake throwing to them to get a true feel of who he gels better with Maye

I wondered if that was a hidden motive

I don’t know why you keep saying this…? WRONG

$3.9M dead cap hit (w $14M cap save) for post-1Jun 27 TRADE is NOT „no way out“

sure

It is quite possible that we have 7 WR's for the week after the so-called final cutoff date, especially if there are teams still interest in a trade for one of them. I don't expect to have 7 on the 53-man roster for Game 1.
53-cut date is Sun, 30 Aug

Our game 1= Wed, 9 Sep. Most of rest of league Sun, 13 Sep.
to me that seems like a lot of time for other teams to look around and find a bright shiny object. Especially the 4 days between Wed & Sunday. IF THEY GO WITH 7, I could easily see 7 (& Behrens as QB3 BTW) sticking on 53 til mid-week G1-to-G2.
