Thanks, I'll use it. I saw this on my phone feed this morning and I couldn't let it get away, but I'm not good at copying links on a smartphone.

But seriously, I mean -- who the heck bets 50,000 against Bill Belichick? Especially if they can't afford to lose it?
Unfortunately, it's like a disease or bad addiction for some people.

He was running (scamming) a SB squares pool . Maybe you should have looked into what you were posting about, which is funny considering you started the thread.

beat me to it Bruins29

Why so uptight? I saw in the article that he had inflated his bets using alternate accounts, that's probably how he got so screwed when he bet them against Belichick. Doesn't change anything, all it does is explain why he thought it might work to fake a kidnapping.

Ah, so THAT’S what happened to FourierSeries.

LMAO, not uptight just amused
How do you bet a square against Belichick or anyone for that matter?

The ironic thing is that since betting is illegal, I do not believe the courts would force him to pay the winnings. I believe he would legally only be on the hook for returning the wagers. Although in this case he

Of course, that would probably have meant he might get the sweet livin' Jesus beat out of him by the screwed over winners, but oh well...

It was squares. That means you aren't betting on a specific team, but rather on the score. Specifically, you are betting on the final digit of each team's score.

In a clean game, the numbers are assigned randomly (otherwise everyone would want 0's, 3's and 7's). There are 4 chances to win: End of 1st quarter, end of half, end of 3rd quarter, end of game. This year whoever had Patriots 3, Rams 3 cleaned up because they won the 3rd quarter and the end of game (end of game winner is usually worth more than the end of quarters winner).

If his pool was $50,000, that means he was selling squares for $500 each. But it seems he kept more of them for himself than he could afford because he was assuming he would win at least once. Somewhere out there is a guy who had Rams 3, Patriots 3 who thought he won $30,000 and is going to end up with a big fat goose egg.

I don’t think my man maust has gotten laid in quite a while. He’s been very pissy lately.

This guy reminds me of Never Earn Money.

"parlor" is so 19th century...
