Former NFL refs agree Steelers got hosed on phantom pass interference that may cost them playoff spot

LOL. It's always the Steelers who are hosed on these close calls. Watching the Saints game yesterday the Steelers were once again allowed to hold while there were a few, not as many as the Pats game, phantom calls on the Saints. They don't mention the close call on the Saints defender which was as close as Haden's play and prolonged a Steeler's drive.

That team and their fanbase don't like to talk about the Seattle SB, the Mike Renfro catch which was called not a catch or the other myriad of calls that have gone their way.

I hate them more than the Jets, Raiders and Dolphins. The only team in their league is the Ravens. I hope they have a long offseason of lamenting getting "screwed" once again.

This team has been the beneficiary of SO many huge calls during the years. They got away with that terrible uncalled pick play to beat the Browns just about six weeks ago.

Go cry about it, Pittsburgh. Really, I’ll be enjoying that. Hope you can watch the Patriots get two more Lombardis while while getting caught for seventeen rules violations at Heinz Field, including clogging the toilets.

2 things

1)why give ridley the rock when you were absolutely destroying NO through the air?

2)if the thought process was to run a fake punt to keep the saints from getting the ball, why not just keep the offense out there on 4th and take your chances through the air?

I agree, a terrible call, and couldn't have happened to a more deserving team. However, it's rare to see a penalty that effectively awards a touchdown to one team. The play in quesion was a fourth down for the Saints. There was no PI whatsoever, just a bit of touching (much more contact happened throughout the game, for both teams). Since it "happened" in the end zone, the ball ended up on the one yard line.

Effectively handing the Saints a touchdown. Without that call the Steelers get the ball at about the 30, or something like that. It's too bad we don't get to hear from the official as to what he thought happened to justify that flag.

Every team has a set of fans that feels the league and refs are out to get them. Rationalize calls in their teams favor as the right calls and anything that goes against them as a conspiracy. My take is that the game is fast and refs make bad calls. It is a sport where a call could be made onjust about any play and when they happen at inopportune moments it can feel that the refs are out to get you. Thought the Pats were on the bad end of the whistle last week but there have been many games over the years where they benefitted (the end of half PI in the AFCCG was fortuitous) I did think the 2 PI calls in question last night were ticky tacky and should not have been called. Definitely impacted the outcome. But too bad - them the breaks.

That's rich that Steelers fans are *****ing about game-changing calls late in the game. I won't rehash the crap 4th quarter game-changing calls the Steelers benefited from against the Patriots. Sure, that PI call was really a stretch to justify making, but there definitely was a penalty on the play. I can't remember which receiver it was for the Saints, but one of them sure looked like he was 100% held and that's what should have been called. The officials called the wrong player for the wrong penalty call.
