Boutte available for trade?

So, as a reward for his playing well last year, we should trade him to a team that will pay him to comete for reps as a #3 WR.

So, a player can't play well enough for the patriots to consider him a #2. The player whines. And we trade him, ignoring the fact that he would be valuable at his salary to the 2026 patriots.
===========
Ok, if he doesn't want to play for us, I guess we should trade him to the giants, the titans or the cards. Maybe he can be a bigger wheel on a terrible team.
Is that not what most younger players hoping for a new contract would do? Playing time > team winning.

More playing time on a terrible team does NOT necessarily mean more winning.

Some player would prefer a lower salary for a longer career on better teams.

I get it. If he doesn't want to play for us, we might wait until mid-August and trade him to AZ, NY or TEN. This lessons the need of him as an injury replacement. We could even wait until after Game One and then trade him. Didn't we do that with Bourne?

The Doubs signing was the writing on the wall here. Frankly while I'd love a 3rd a 4th is probably the best we can hope for.

I personally think he's a very good player, probably pigeoned into a role.
Is he worth what he thinks he is? I personally think he'll be a stud if given the opportunity, but we'll see.

But lets face it, you are just talking out of your ass.
I think letting Jacobi Myers go did some damage to people. Ever since then people have been looking for the next Myers. So in this case many on the board have compared Boutte to him. That’s probably why you’re getting some people who believe he’s only scratching the surface and AJB is the Pats JuJu Smith Shuster.

when thinking about a return for Boutte in a deal, todays market solely for Boutte most likely is different down the road, for a team that may have suffered an injury at WR over the summer, and if the Pats attached a draft pick to the deal (they have 4 picks in rd 6 in 2026).

For right now, he wants out, we want some draft capital and failing that, depth. The Pats have made it clear they're supportive of the trade if the price is right, but he is a valued member of the team. You need spares at WR. The Pats are trying to be cool about it, but they're not promising to just give him away.

100%
Also right now, Boutte has 3.6 million reasons to report for mandatory camp. come in work hard and let things play out.
if the team is as smart as we all believe they are, I am sure they have had that same discussion with Boutte and his agent.

looking down rt95 a bit, I see the Giants taking a flier on the corpses previously know as OBJ and JuJu.
do they prefer a young, hungry for a big contract WR and a 6th rd pick for edge Thibodeaux?

He’s gone.

They’ll likely want a deal done before camp. They want players who want to be here… Boutte wants a trade.

A 5th or 6th if they’re lucky….

they also have a player with value, they need to ensure they receive that value back in a deal
they also have a player that in theory is great insurance if one of the WR's injures

You don’t understand value… never have.

Boutte with 2-3 years left on his contract is worth a middle/late round pick alone.

If you have a 500-700 yard WR like Boutte who is a free agent next season and needs a new contract… that makes him worth much less.

It starts with you overrating him, it gets worse when you don’t understand he also needs to get paid. Nobody wants to trade a high asset, then turn around and pay the player. You just paid twice for the same player… you could drafted a guy and brought in five UDFA WR’s for cheaper than what you gave up for Boutte.

I just don't know that you get better than a 5th for a 550-yard guy, no matter how much promise.

That said, to me the difference between a 4th and a 5th is negligible. The Pats have made a habit of turning up value picks with 5ths. Kayshon and Pop were both 6th rounders (mind blowing, am I right?)
