Patriots Player Departure Marte Mapu Released [UPDATE: Traded to HOU - Mapu+7th for 6th]

2019 was the year of the Busts

nkeal and Joeuan 1st and 2nd round pick bust.. a team really has to work hard to **** that up!
BB was on a run of 2nd round DBs around those years that will be difficult to someone replicate that ever (not on a positive meaning, I mean)

Jacob Rodriguez please.

Weird trend continues of releasing players who were cheap and fit into roles on the team, even if only marginal ones. It feels like they are making the type of cuts you make to get down to a final 53 man roster while we’re still in the 90 man offseason roster stage of team building. Ultimately inconsequential if you assume these guys would get cut anyway, just kind of odd.
Ya. It feels like there's more holes now than there should be at this point.

You're absolutely correct.. Cyrus Jones and Duke Dawson.. Just crazy how many 1st and 2nd round bust.. Darius butler was another high rounder in 2010 but he ended up have a great career when he left NE..

I convinced myself at the time.

He was a fascinating player. But just not a fit at all in this system.

That sounds like an honest (if a little charitable) take. I respect that.

Is why I'm inclined to believe it was likely requested.. I know one thing the team has sure added more pressure on them to strength the depth this draft. Will be interesting...

That 2019 class had to have been Bill's worst. Basically one decent season out of Damien Harris and one good season from a punter. The rest of that class hardly even saw the field.

That Cole Strange Draft was pretty brutal too: thank goodness for Marcus Jones and that knuckle head Jack Jones.

JoeJuan Williams, Duke Dawson, Cyrus Jones, Jordan Richards, Tavon Wilson, Ras-I Dowling, Darius Butler, and Terrence Wheatley. Uncanny to have that many flat-out busts in the same round at the same general position. I think the only second-round DBs who worked out were Chung (who had to leave and come back before they figured out how to use him) and Eugene Wilson, who from what I remember was a college corner and got moved to safety.

That one gives 2019 a run for its money. That Strange pick was the culmination of so much roster mismanagement.

At first I thought this was old news from a month ago, but then remembered it was another jag, Tavai, who was released due to a failed physical.

Don't remind me could have had Brock Purdy and Romeo Doubs that same year. BB upped his blunders by taking Tyquan Thornton over G Pickens and Alec Pierce. But DaPrunes would say I'm being unreasonable to his Idol.

Tavai at least was a regular contributor. Mapu never really found a role.

Absolutely.. for example I Harry had more of an attitude and entitlement probably more so than his abilities.. I remember hearing about him arguing with coaches during camp. He showed some flashes but just never really bought in.

Harris probably was the singular player who probably saved the class from being an abrupt failure.. as he did have some productive seasons.. Williams.. for the life of me not sure what the scouts ever saw in him.. he never really made any plays on the ball for his size at 6'3 he should have been able to dominate on the outside at CB... coming in with Gilly and Mcourty to learn from you'd had thought he would have turned into a good pro..

Yes.. Eugene Wilson was a Safety here next to Hot rod for a bit.. solid player.. but yes to your point all the DB bust has to be a franchise record. It must be? Tavon Austin was a Safety as well?

Seems like during the time we hit on more UDFA then some drafted guys..

Butler, Jackson...

And being often injured as well never can help a player if you're off the field more than on it.m

I hear you twin..but on Purdy seems the book is out on him.. give Drake his weapons during that superbowl game I bet you a future mass cash winning ticket Drake would have won that SB..

Purdy is a average QB surrounded by talented players and a good offensive coach in shanny..

Hopefully this will end the Pats wasting mid round picks by taking small school hybrids.

Stick to the SEC, Big Ten.

And Maye is Potentially a Great QB surrounded by JAGS. I'll take Purdy's situation 24/7.
