NFL News Maxx Crosby to Ravens (Update - Ravens Backing Out of the Deal)

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
My understanding is that there’s not actually any physical that was failed, he can’t even take one because he’s still rehabbing. The Ravens basically said “our doctor thinks your rehab isn’t far enough along so you fail”.

The Ravens should be docked draft picks for this

They absolutely just changed their mind and figured they could get Trey Hendrickson without giving up the draft capital

It's real scumbag behaviour

“Testing” and a “physical” aren’t quite the same though. Generally teams have a full slate they run through on a physical to pass a player which he would never be able to pass right now, and that was known. So any “testing” done was just some basic level evaluation and prognosticating rehab timelines based on that.

For what though?
The league year starts at 4PM today.

Jones started for Baltimore, I guess like everyone else he became a back up when the Patriots signed him.
Just like how Doubs, who was the Packers’ WR1 (which was a playoff team), somehow became a WR3 at best once he became a Patriot lol

They most likely did some strength/stability tests on the knee and learned he still has issues. Also it might not be healing they way it should from his surgery in January. Might have done an MRI as well. He could have a degenerative condition?

I believe BAL wanted to do the deal in good faith but his medical condition made it impossible to go through with it.

It's the same as the game day threads, and the reason I stopped reading them years ago. There is a contingent of Patriot fans whose superpower is negativity. Doesn't matter how much they win, doesn't matter if they won the Lombardi, doesn't matter if they sign the best player in free agency, or get the best player in the draft, they will always chime in with the whiniest *****iest most negative take on it. It's almost always the same people, and they are predictable as sunrise. At this point they have become caricatures of themselves. Like people who have gotten too many lip fillers, who like like they have had sausages implanted on their mouths.

I agree, they got screwed on the deal. I'm sure Dre'Mont Jones would still be a Raven if they hadn't made that deal.

Doesn’t pass the sniff test to me. If it was that detailed we would have heard about it. That’s my sense anyway.

I totally disagree.
I think Baltimore wanted to do the deal until they noticed Trey Hendrickson was still unsigned, and wouldn't have to give up 2 first round picks for him.
The "medical issue" is a smokescreen. The guy had meniscus surgery less than two months ago. Everyone knows this, none of it was a secret.

There was no way Crosby was going to pass a physical now. Everyone knew that. He had meniscus surgery. He won't be medically cleared to practice for months.

I agree with people that they had buyer remorse. I wouldn't be surprised if they signed Hendrickson today.

Not only have they screwed over the Raiders. Crosby's reputation is taking a hit. Now every team is going to think he has a significant medical condition that would make trading for him a game of Russian Roulette.

The medical condition gives them an out, but I doubt that it is the reason.

Baltimore made an absolutely foolish deal. They are backing out of it for the same reason, I suspect, that we should have nothing to do with it. Crosby is at the end of his career, and his cost in picks and cash, both immediately and over time, is far greater than is justified by his fading skills. Beyond a certain age. all the beastly fervor and tattooed frenzy in the world ain't gonna get it. Taking him on would be an asinine vanity move, snatching at shiny objects like some addled squirrel. I am confident the Pats' management will be smart enough to ignore the pleading of the fan boys and look elsewhere.
