The difference being Tua is being released. If he subsequently chose to retire that wouldn't change the fact the team decided their association had come to an end and therefore is on the hook for the contract's value.

This guy has been overrated his whole career… He was razor, thin close to being cut by Flores until his career was saved by Doofins bringing in Tyreek Hill… He is a Samoan Mac Jones….. have no idea what Atlanta is thinking… This guy is one more hit away from being in serious cognitive impairment…..Best of luck

The Dolphins are paying almost his entire salary! It's a smart move by the Falcons, sign him to a vet minimum, as insurance if Penix can't start the year, or gets hurt again, or sucks. Throw in Tua, one year salary at vet minimum. IF for some reason, he plays well, they can re-sign him, or let him walk and get the comp picks.

Can't really see a downside for Atlanta. He has a $99 mil dead money cap hit against the Dolphins!
