Hendrickson - or Chaisson AND Mafe

I don't think it eliminates Clowney on a 1 or 2 year friendly deal.
Overall the goal is to get younger, cheaper, better, but that's not possible at every position.
Every team supplants their roster with established cheaper vets.
Last year we signed Diggs and got a good year out of him.
There will be a similar signing this year.
Meaning clowney won't be the first choice he'd likely be a late FA, camp or post draft signing IMO... Diggs while I wish was still here.. refused to restructure.. but yes younger, better, cheaper.. I'm not opposed to Clowney.. I'd want us to focus on the starting level guys firstly..

100%.
I'm not suggesting Clowney as our #1 Edge FA signing, but rather combining him with a higher price guy (Phillips/Oweh/Trey).
Clowney had 8.5 sacks and 12 TFL in 13 games last year and he's good against the run.

"At age 32, the former South Carolina Gamecock recorded 40 total pressures, 29 QB Hurries, and nine sacks, all the most of any defender on Dallas’ roster. Clowney also recorded a 16.7% pass-rush win rate and 80.6 pass-rush grade (among qualifying edge defenders), which placed him in the top 17 in the league in both categories."

There is juice left there and there is a Vrabs connection.

And you know that how? Gary will be 29 in 2026.
Every team would love to be young, cheap, and highly productive at every position 1-53, but that's not how it works.
Every team signs vets over the ideal age, and we are no different.

Yup.
I think some (not you) are suggesting that Vrabs comments mean we are going to get younger and more productive at every roster spot 1-53, and that is impossible.
There is always a place for older vets on the right deal, and we will have some of those signings.

I don't disagree. And yeah Vrabs said that...every coach and GM feels that exact same way. And you're right...that can't always be the case for every position...but you gotta try.

We are 9th youngest. I suppose we could have the goal of being the #1 youngest.

BTW, it is rare to have a team where the players are getting younger.

Is Benjamin Button a FA?

Key word..said I Believe just my thinking... I'm just a poster... I know no more than you do as to exactly who Vrabel will sign...

Hendrickson + a draft pick in the top 3 rounds

Yes!! DD so glad you mentioned good against the run.. if wver a knock on Chaisson is he was a liability against it.. where as Clowney has always been a solid run defender.. speaking of Phillips?.. are we gonna be in on him? Last I saw watching patiots coverage Callahan seems to believe the asking price may be too high for Phillips? But they are going to have to get someone.. the safe bet would be securing a deal with Chaisson while still pursuing a Clowney or someone else as we've mentioned. What can make the pass rush really come to life is if the guys we start drafting turn out to be something.. we been hampered by the draft for some years now.. we need more Nik bonnittos, more will Anderson types.. frustrating at times watching other organizations be able to draft these guys..

Bonitto was a bit of wildcard due to his size coming out, thus why he was a 2nd rd pick.
Denver got lucky with him.
Anderson was the 3rd overall pick, so his success is not a surprise.
We haven't dedicated a lot draft capital in the early rds to that position for quite some time (unless you want to count Uche and White)
Last time we took a DE in the first rd was Chandler Jones in 2012!

They need to add age not get younger. Having a few vets on this team changes everything. Look at what Diggs brought to the table and most of the board thought that he wasn’t an upgrade over Pop when they signed him.

I'm surprised I'm not hearing more calls for Jaylen Phillips on the board. I Think I'd be more comfortable with Mafe or Phillips or Chassion than Hendrickson. I also wish we knew more about Landry's injury situation. We know he valiantly played through a knee injury that clearly affected his play. I want him back, but only if he's healthy. Also I only resign Chassion ONLY if he commits to work to get stronger this off season. He gets stoned too often if he doesn't win with his first move quickness. I love his motor, but he needs to get more powerful.

Philips would be my first choice as well. I want them going younger and building for the long run.

Thinking about Hendrickson coming here gets my naughty parts tingling but don't think it'll happen....they're going to blow a large chunk of $ on some O I think and put him out of reach sadly...

Wherever he ends up, it would be a shame if it’s not with a contender.

It's his decision.
He's made his money, up to him to prioritize winning, which I assume he will.
It seems like he’d rather take the most money he can.

It would be silly for a non-contender to offer a guy his age 30M/year.
He probably has 2 good years left?
I would imagine his market will be mostly made up of teams that feel he could push them over the edge.
It would make zero sense for a team like Tenn to offer him a market deal when he may well be cooked by the time they are truly contenders.
And it would be equally silly for him to take a mill or more to play for a bad team.
If he's just chasing dollars, then that's his right.
