NFL News Maxx Crosby to Ravens (Update - Ravens Backing Out of the Deal)

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
Jesse Minter is a bright guy and saw Crosby twice a year within the division. He knows what he is doing.

28 year old All Pro level defensive end. Highly unlikely you draft someone his caliber in the second half of the first round. Yeah this is what guys like this will go for.

Nobody should be shocked by the price for these players. Some people think we get Brown for less

Love Crosby! He should make that defense very tough, and the Ravens are the favorites in the division.
He was as elite as they come 2 years ago, not been quite the same level the last 2 years but if he's healthy, he should be rejuvenated playing for a contender.

Ravens already over the cap and clearly have to restructure Lamar but that bill is coming due in likely 2 years so the window is small enough for them this makes sense. Next year they'd hope to be drafting late 20's at worst, so that plus this year's 14th for Crosby a fair trade.

Too much for a Pats team still building. A year too early to give up that much for the Pats.

Also, a great return for the Raiders for a guy that will be on the wrong side of 30 in 3 years when they would hope to contend. Win, Win trade IMO.

Big news though

Next year the Pats will have Maye on a market resetting contract as long as he doesn't completely flop (and then we have to decide if we even keep him if that happens). This is the year to really start to make some moves now and squeeze contracts in that can be heavy in the first year or two.

Thats awesome for the Raiders.

Keep stacking assets.

I'd trade the 1st overall to a desperate team and keep adding picks.

LV could really turn things around quickly if they draft well.

This just makes no sense. Lamar's physical window is closing. He needs offensive weapons, not a pass rush. They can't throw the ball or score. Ravens in a rebuild within 3 years.

I agree. This isn't a need for them. And glad it wasn't the Pats.

It makes sense, their D was not good and struggled to rush the passer.
Balt was 11th in pts scored this year with Lamar missing a bunch of time.
They were 18th in points against.
in 2024 with a healthy Lamar they were 3rd in pts scored and 7th in passing.
in 2023 they were 6th in scoring.

They can score pts.

Two firsts for an elite edge rusher is probably the going rate, I think he’d would have made this defense top 5 legit next year. That’s worth two firsts.

Baltimores defense last year was pretty mediocre to bad. This just makes them “better”

2 1s for 2 years of output at 30+ million . Seems an overpay. Should have at least got back a 2nd or something of that sort. Very high compensation. Really glad patriots did not do it.

Pretty interesting for Baltimore. I am intrigued to see what Minter does with Crosby. I think they will become a defensive powerhouse with the offense being efficient and controlling the ball. Definitely will be neat to watch unfold - glad we play the Steelers this year instead.

Meanwhile the Raiders have #1 overall and #14 overall, and two firsts next year. Great capital to rebuild quickly, if their org can actually get it right this time.

So Baltimore looking like they should be easily tougher than Pittsburgh next year. And Houston can very realistically end up better than Jacksonville. Be great after all the bills fans complaining about this years schedule if we still end up with an easier schedule than them again haha

If you liked the trade for the Ravens then you can hang your hat on they are now the AFC favorite.
If you didn't like the trade for the Ravens, you can hang your hat on their odds of winning the Superbowl only increased from 7.69% (+1,200) to 9.09% (+1,000), meaning still 91% chance they don't win the Superbowl and they gave up two 1st, one of which is pretty good for that increase in odds.

But the #1 weakness for the Ravens last year was a complete lack of pass rush. This pushes them ahead of every other contender next year: Patriots, Bills, Broncos, Texans. Outliers: Jaguars, Bengals, Chargers.

nah
