CONGRATS PATRIOTS NATION!!! WHAT A RIDE...WHAT A SEASON.
This will be our 16th appearance in the AFC Championship Game (11-4) which is tied with Pittsburgh (8-8) for second most behind only the San Francisco 49ers who have played in 19 (8-11) Conference Title Games. The Broncos are playing in their 11th AFCCG and are 8-2.
In my lifetime as a Patriots fan which dates back to the 1985 season, the Broncos are the franchise who has given us the most problems. John Elway retired with a perfect 11-0 record against us including a Division Playoff win in 1986. I remember that game well. It was the first time I had my heart broken.
Denver did it again in the season finale of the 1988 season. The Patriots were riding a 6 game winning streak and were sitting at 9-6 going into that game. They were in control of their own destiny. Win and they were in. Unfortunately, Elway beat us again.
In 2005, we were competing for our 3rd straight SB title but a road trip to Denver in the Divisional Round didn't go our way. I always felt the officiating in that game was one sided and cost us the game. If we had won, we would have played the Steelers in the AFC Championship Game and we all know what happens when Brady plays the Steelers.
In 2013 and 2015, Manning's Broncos beat us in the AFC Championship Game. If not for those losses, we would have played in six consecutive Super Bowls.
This franchise has struggled more in Denver more than in any other location. Even worse than Miami.
Having said that, this is a new era and a new team who will ultimately chart their own destiny. I can think of no opponent I'd rather beat in the AFC Championship than to knock out the Broncos in Denver.
Feel the magic.....BECOME THE MAGIC!!!
LETS GO PATS!!!
