I know I’m not playing a football game at the end of it, but it does take its mental and physical toll. In this case, for the team, I think it will be a sign of great MENTAL toughness if they are able to go out and perform well on Sunday. It’s different though. Players fly out on Saturday, home on Sunday night and have (usually) film day on Monday and Tuesday off.
The toll of that doesn’t add up like 30,000 miles in 12 days.

NFL players have the best recovery, treatment and trainers available to them for recovery. It's up to them as professionals to take care of thier bodies as best as they can. They are essentially independent contractors.
