OT: Lamar Jackson

After last night's game Jackson is 20th in the league in rushing attempts and 23rd in passing attempts.
If the Ravens weren't up big in every game he may have to pass more down the stretch.

I’ll live with that one once we take one of either Lawrence or fields in 2021.

That means we would have to be one of the worst teams next year for that to happen.

Also skeptical about those two guys. They both play for teams that have so much more talent than their competition. Clemson and OSU have cupcake conferences. If they played in the SEC we could get a better gauge on how they'll look against NFL type speed on defenses.

The Jackson vs Michel stuff is water under the bridge at this point (and lol they could have had both, the Patriots had enough ammo to make the trade the Ravens did to move to 32). But I guess then they wouldn't have had Duke Dawson.

That said, the "we only won the Super Bowl last year thanks to Sony's transcendent talent" argument looks bleaker and bleaker by the week.

other conferences have athletes too. They don’t need to play in the SEC to get a gauge of what they can and can’t do. Judgements can be made on 2 or more seasons worth of games. SEC or not.

Most kids on the best teams don’t even play in the pros anyway

As well as run designed running plays for him to pick up 1st downs.

I get that the ratio would be a bit different, but how many QB's in the history of the league have been ranked higher in running attempts than passing?

Lawrence looked pretty good last year against Bama.

We had a dominant OL. Arguably the best during this run. We could have replaced Sony a bunch of other RBs & got the same results.

It's such an easy position to plug & play. Not diminishing what Sony did but we won w A Smith, Blount & others.

We won & ran 18 different types of runs bc of our OL. Not Sony.
Again, hypothetical.

True but with Lawrence and Fields, because the talent on their offense is so much better against the defense they're playing, it's hard to gauge how good they'll really be when they go up against a defense that is equally talented. Especially with Fields, you look at all those slow and prodding Big Ten defenses and how much faster his skill players are. And he rarely gets touched his OL is so good against the defenses they played this year.

This is a general observation obviously and not an absolute. Both could become great NFL players. Watson for example is one of the best young QBs.

But Tua and Burrow are throwing to guys running free as well.

I guess?

We know its the easiest position in football to transition into from college. Literally every year you can look at the league leaders & see names that are udfa, mid-late Rd picks.

I'm really not trying to trivialize what Michel did. I was excited as anyone when we grabbed him even if it might not have been my personal pick.

All I'm saying is what has happened in the past is not a predictor for the future. We have no idea if Smith or LG would have had the same playoff run as Sony did last year.

Same as we don't know how LJ would do here.

100% agree with this. I refuse to even entertain the thought that we might not have won a SB without sony. Sony is good but nothing special. We could have easily found another good enough RB to run behind that OL. Like you said, easy position to plug and play.

He's such a freak. I remember him in hs & just being taken back by everything. Physique, arm, athleticism, the way he handles himself. Just don't see that from someone that young.
Hope he reaches his potential just to see it. He's operating at abt 50/60% rn & has looked as good as any QB in the nation for 2 years.

Trust me I thought he'd be special here but it just hasn't happened. Like you said though. He's been good but not close to a game changer or anything like that.

I think RBs are the cherry on top of a sundae. Not the whole meal.

Not all the time. Burrow, in particular, is throwing to a spot. It’s your average timing offense. Be even considering that, Burrow is still extremely accurate. A lot of times, he’s throwing to that spot before the receiver gets separation.

I can’t wait to see him against OSU’s defense.

I don’t dispute any of that. there’s still a talent gap IMO between teams in that conference.

even tua, dead on balls accurate

Same as we don't know how LJ would do here.

We know pretty well how he'd do here. He'd warm the bench and in games where the offense can't move the ball he'd maybe get a handful snaps for a bit of trickery. Until Brady got injured or retired.

And people on the board would call him a waste of a pick because nobody would actually know how good his legs are. And if they knew they'd call BB an idiot for not converting him into a RB.

OK so if they draft LJ they don't draft Sony and they don't win the Super Bowl.

If you want to bash BB, fine but deal with the most likely scenario from it.

And you know that how exactly?
