I like this -- "negotiations" for the package. I envision a bunch of animated Italian guys sitting at a table arguing.

I am seriously considering going. I just need to buy the plane ticket and SB ticket. Have friends in the area that I can stay with . Not sure if I want to go and then can't attend the game if the ticket prices are out of reach. Will decide in the next 24 hours ! My daughter actually wants to go, colour me shocked as she likes hockey and as much as I have tried she just won't get into football. She is 10 !!

Its more than just the Super Bowl. Free Concerts, NFL Experience, Some have free zip lines and a whole lot more.

My take: the Super Bowl is the Disney World of football -- displays, merchandise, interactive attractions, entertainment, food, freebies, etc. -- a festival atmosphere and exciting feast for the senses. Every fan should try to go at least once.

RE: Philly fans, I wonder if Eagles fans might get a hard time in Minn from the local Viking fans. Maybe the locals wouldnt mind getting a little revenge for the full beers being whipped at them in Philly a couple weeks ago

Flights to Chicago were fairly cheap two days ago. It's a 5 hour ride but saves a bunch of money.

I had a free ticket and hotel but the hassle of getting there made me turn it down. Granted I live 2 1/2 hours from the nearest airport and tickets to Minneapolis were sold out / ridiculously expensive + connections. I'm 16 hours from Minneapolis by car and driving might have been the quickest way to get there for me.

Can we ban him?

Good luck! Hope you can make it!

I'm also from Europe. Been last year at Houston. Wanted to go this year too, even booked a car and hotel. But as previously mentioned the ticket prices are up again, now the cheapest is around 4.3k.

It's a bit strange, cause I thought the prices would go down like last year and I could buy one for 2.5-3k. Well, not happening unfortunately.

Dude, You turned it down?? Man o man....how in the world could you turn down a free ticket? If you happen to have two free tickets — ill trade you two AFC Championship lower level seats and Optum club for next year (or next time we host).

GOOD LUCK PAT PATRIOT!!!!! I really hope you get to go buddy. We could not go this time but are 100% going to the next one (I’ve been to 6/10 once in a lifetimes so far, so, no complaints, although I am having withdrawals right now!!

I agree. It might be a bannable offense.

Commie...Commie. This guys a Commie.

I'm as far "right" from a Commie as you can get.

Tickets would have been free courtesy of my $100+ million in the bank brother-in-law. I took him up on the offer for the Pat's/Seahawks but, couldn't make the Pat's/Falcons game. He must be good luck though. He's seen every Pat's Super Bowl win live and couldn't make it to any of the ones they lost. He'll be there, so Pat's should get number six.

Well... I'm making the plunge this year. I have a hotel, flights, rental car.... just need tickets. Those of you who have done it before, any tips on when/where to buy? Buy now? Wait? Anyone here have any and can't make it? Any advice would be appreciated from Super Bowl Vets!

Dana

Well, here's an update:

I watched the ticket market like a hawk. Probably refreshed the 2 major broker sites I determined to be the cheapest (TickPick, TicketIQ) as well as StubHub (Ripoff, fees are insane) 15-20 times per day.

After reading every article I could find on the subject, studying graphs, and listening to podcasts with "ticket expert" guests, I determined the best day to buy would be today, Tuesday before the game. Historically, tickets slide in price until 5 days prior, where they bottom out and start to climb again as folks get nervous not having tickets right before they're are about to travel.

Saturday the market got to the point where it was about $2.5k get-in and 3.5k for lower corners... and a couple sideline lowers even, for that price. I was totally thinking a sub $2000 ticket would be had by today.

Then Sunday night hit. Tickets crept up a little... about $200 across the board. Then, fortunately having to work very, very early on Monday morning (4am), by the time I woke up they had snuck up by about $400, with the get-in price being about $3000...

I scrolled past a listing on TicketIQ that had a pair of $3700 lower patriots sideline/corner seats (sec 103)... This to me looked like the seller hadn't had a chance to raise the price on that listing. Additionally, the fees were on $100 per ticket, not $700 like most listings on that site. No clue why. They offered a 5% coupon code, on top of it (NFL is the code)... I puked in my mouth, pulled out my wallet, and out the door I paid $7300 for the pair.

I felt sick all day about it, until I refreshed the prices that night. Overnight, those tickets almost doubled. It is now $4400 just to get in the top row corner of the building....

It's a lot of money, but it looks like I may have gotten a "deal" if the market holds. Off to Minny Thursday Morning! LETS GOOOOOO!

Here is some information I hope you find helpful:

It’s a weekly newsletter I get, from the CEO of TickPick. As you should be aware, TickPick has no fees, but there inventory tends to be on the low side, especially this year.

Good luck!!

We are not going this year, hoping for Atlanta next year for a three peat (I’ve been fortunate enough to attend six out of our ten, so I can’t complain, my record is 4-2, Green Bay & the not so perfect season are the losers, winners are 36, 38, 39 and 51).

While preparing this Super Bowl update - which we've drafted and redrafted numerous times - we were interested in referring back to what we said in prior updates to give us a sense of perspective.

With that said, it's still our belief that prices will come down (from the current get-in of $4,300), but our level of confidence in our ability to forecast the direction of prices has decreased, as we've never seen prices behave like this with the exception of Super Bowl 49, which was an entirely different situation.

After providing a couple of meaningful snippets from prior newsletters, we'll then dig into the current situation.
From our January 23rd Super Bowl newsletter, here were two key takeaways:

9f0cbdf2866dbca5e74ddb0d33ec5d04.png

In our Super Bowl newsletter from January 26th, we gave mixed singles, as the true consensus internally and across the industry was that prices would continue to decrease. Obviously, at this current moment, we were wrong about prices trending downward, but we gave relatively good advice that if $3,000 was your number, you should look to buy:

So where are we now?

Over the course of writing this newsletter for the last five years, what I've learned to push is for our readers to trust in their gut more than anything else. To be honest, part of that is to deflect one's buying decision on the end user, as we've learned the ebbs and flows of Super Bowl ticket prices can become nauseating.

With that said, I think Super Bowl tickets and buyers can be broken down into three distinct groups.

1. People who just want to get in the door and are typically buying the cheapest overall tickets.
2. People who are looking for the best seats they can get within a certain budget.
3. People who are looking at the premium seats in the $10,000 range.
Tickets for each of these groups have been trending and behaving differently.

The cheapest tickets: This group is the largest group of buyers and the supply is fixed. Over the last 3 years, we've seen that it's become somewhat normal for fans to spend $3,000-$4,000 to just get into the stadium. This has created tremendous upward pressure on prices, and the truth of the matter is that there's just not that many tickets in the 300s section, creating higher demand than there is supply.
In my opinion, the silver lining has been tickets in the 100s end zone and corners. These prices have increased, but very modestly. The average sale price of these sections since January 1st is $4,632, and if you look at the average sale price from January 14th to the 21st, the average increased to $5,017. Currently, you can buy tickets in these sections for $4,817. Tickets in these sections will continue to change, but these are the most stably-priced tickets. If you're sick of the games, you should seriously consider locking these tickets up for below $5,000 while you still can. The next best option is the lower level sidelines - available for $5,700 - which is a relatively a good deal compared to the next listing for $6,216.
Unlike all other groups, the premium seats are now starting to decrease in price. The idea of people spending $10,000 a ticket is such a small subset of people. However, what's working against larger decreases is a shortage in supply. There's only roughly 100-200 tickets available for resale in these sections. With that said, great club seats are now available in the $8,000 range.

What's been happening?
It's hard to tell exactly why Super Bowl tickets this year on average have increased by close to $1,000. There are two main factors that we're seeing: the demand from the Eagles fan base is one of the key drivers. When the cheapest tickets sell and the get-in price increases, we then see a surge in buying that's driven by fans' fear of prices increasing. Sellers have seen this, and while prices continue to increase, sales have continued to fly in, leading sellers to increase their prices even further.
The second factor is the supply. Unfortunately, there just haven't been that many tickets that have hit the resale market. In my opinion, the NFL is controlling the inventory very tightly and doing everything they can to minimize the amount of tickets that become available for resale. Unlike in years' past, when the week leading up to the Super Bowl is when hundreds or potentially thousands of tickets flooded the market, we haven't seen anything like those inventory spikes occur this year.

What Will Determine Prices?
At this point, we don't expect to see a massive decrease in prices tomorrow. If the market cracks, it likely wouldn't be until Thursday night, but this is just speculation. If no additional inventory or very little inventory makes it to the market, it's possible that prices stabilize or increase. I'd be surprised if this is the case, because it would make me wonder, where did the thousands of tickets that typically sell through marketplaces go?

In the end, it all goes back to the end user, which tickets you're looking to buy, and how much risk you're willing to take.

We're sorry for the lengthiness of this email, but we thought it was time to provide some thorough information.
