Brady injured knee

With Brady sidelined, our receivers can get more practice adjusting to inaccurate passes.

Uhm, except people have been known to miss entire seasons with BB still saying the whole time that they're "day to day".
Your disappointment is palpable. Nice try, though...

Nate Solder: "I'll have to see what happened on film".

Looked to me like you went incredibly soft on that play.

From that video, looks like he stepped on foot/ankle, causing the twist in the knee.
BadMoFo. Initially, I thought the same thing; or, brady's left shin was cleated by Nate's shoe.

I then captured a number of Frames and put them together (see below):
  • Looks like Brady's left foot is planted already; so, he couldn't have stepped on someone's foot.
  • If Brady was cleated in the shin by Nate, his left leg would most likely have moved to the right quickly. Although, if he was planted after just releasing the ball, that's debatable.
  • It looks like Brady's left leg stays straight all the way up to the point that Nate's rear-end contacts the left side of his left thigh.

Hoping for the best here, it could be nothing. But, this is the kind of glancing blow with Brady's left leg and foot planted with weight applied to do a few things ranging from Medial Collateral Ligament strain, sheer or tearing to one of the meniscus or potentially an ACL issue due to his weight shifted to his left leg at the end of his throwing motion.

Did you get the MRI report?

I don't know. Tampa's coach, when asked, said specifically that everyone was told to protect the quarterbacks, so I would guess Nate didn't expect to be bull rushed with Brady standing right behind him.

I was a1t practice this afternoon. Saw the play but really didn't see the particular matchup as I was focused on the receivers. He went down and my cousin said "Brady's clutching his knee!"...and there he was ,rolling around in pain. He left unassisted walking gingerly, came back for a few more reps and then walked off slowly to the tent.I thought it was the patella by the way he was holding his knee at first. That's about all I got until after I left and listened to the various reports on Sirius that came in on the ride home.

Mallett took over and practice continued at a brisk pace. My gut reaction? A twinge. I doubt he sees snaps this Friday.

Thank you, Abraham Zapruder.

Brady is still undergoing tests as we speak, according to another source. They're leaving no stone unturned here.

Which of the other teams in the AFC East is a threat to have a winning record?

The issue is that without Brady, the ten games outside the division are really rugged. There is not a gimme among them with Mallet or Tebow at the controls.

Cleveland can be competitive and Cam Newton and Carolina isn't exactly an automatic W with an inexperienced to poor QB throwing to a new batch of receivers.

I hope this is just a bump in the road.

because there is a difference between an actual tear and sprain. Torn ACL/MCL=out for the year. Mayo played with a sprained MCL a few years ago. One requires surgery, the other requires rest.

"Sprain" is so vague. Per Mayo Clinic's site:

There are 3 grades of knee sprains:
Grade 1 – a few fibres (less than 10%) are damaged/torn. Usually heals naturally
Grade 2 – more fibres are torn but the ligament is still intact.
Grade 3 – the ligament is ruptured – completely torn. May require surgery

So a 'sprain' varies in severity from slight stretch to complete tear.

I assume since they ARE saying the MRI is 'negative', then it's either a Grade 1 or 2.

Thanks - for the report. Personally I doubt we see him for more than two series in preseaon game 3 and that will be it. Reps with the new wideouts will come in practices where we can be sure that no hack D-line is going to try to make a name for himself by hitting the franchise.

How does 2007 enter into the discussion, Strawman Builder?

I'm not sure if you're being willfully obtuse, or just ignorant. There's no strawman there, at all. Brady missed 2008, the year following 2007. Miami went from a 1 win team to an 11 win team in one season. Miami, this year, is again in a position with a lot of turnover and potential for improvement.

i can't believe that there 122 brain dead people who "liked" this thread.

Willie Mac and Sean O hara make a good point on NFLN - why on earth would belichick have a 2nd joint practice session? they had one last week, why have a second one? if you practice against another team, the other team is going to play passionately. if you practice against your own team then you can control this kind of stuff to a greater extent.

reps with the newly drafted WR's is one reason.

It's being termed a "mild sprain".

Search "brady mild sprain" on twitter.
