Any word on Welker's injury?

I think they should let him rest for a good long while. They can go 3-1 without him in September, and for whoever said, "I hope he doesn't take another shot like that," are you kidding me? He's a slot reciever. He gets tackled by linebackers. If his ribs are hurt they should let him heal up fully before putting him back on the field.

Football players get hurt on football plays. I don't thin punt returns are a whole lot more dangerous than anything else. Sh!t happens. It sucks but it is what it is.

I was surprised to see Hobbs and Welker used on returns during the

pre-season games. During the regular season would be another matter

since they are the top two return men.

I'd be curious to see injury stats on returns vs. regular plays. I know the perception is returns are more dangerous but I'm not sure that's the reality.

Marc Bulger played almost the entire year with his rib injury, I imagine Welker could do the same if he had to, and do it better than Bulger did. I think he'll be fine.

As it stands I'm not to concerned about Welker right now. If we hear news that Troy Brown's been resigned then we've got worries. As much as I love Troy, something like that wouldn't bode well for Wes. But there hasn't been any Brown sightings and Welker hsn't been placed on IR so I'm not worried.

But on the flip side, it is good to know we have so much depth at reciever (and linebacker for that matter), going as far as guys who aren't technically on the team.

As much as I hate to say it, it was Wes' fault. He was trying to be competitive in a game that didn't demand competitiveness as it was already lost. But that is just the way he is. He should have called for fair catch.

I can't believe PATs so superior Coaching staff put Wes, one of their key
receivers, in that situation.
That was a DUMB idea!!!!!!

Is he so much better than Slater? Why risk key players when other players
can do almost if not as well?
Injury management should be part of a good coaches understanding and
risking key players unnecessarily shows a total disregard for that aspect of
the game. Hobbs should not be out there either when you got Slater, Jones and others than can do the job. IMO.

OK JR....I guess the Patriots just do not have a decent head coach or that much of a superior front office....just not very good coaches as you say.

So, we sit Hobbs & Welker, is that just for returns or all together? If you worry about injury on returns, then you should also worry they'll get hurt playing their positions as well. With this kind of thinking, if we sit those two, we should all the starters and key back ups I guess. Where do you draw the line? Injury is a part of the game - you cannot place all the players in bubbles, football players play football and some will get injured, not much can be done about it.

I guess we should get rid of the coaching staff - now, who would you like to see brought in?

Ugh, if this is serious I'll be pissed.

DON'T HAVE WES WELKER RETURNING PRE-SEASON PUNTS.

On another note, don't have Randy Moss running reverses either.
And don't have the out there OLine blocking, either, fer crying out loud. We can afford any more OLine injuries. Certainly don't put any cornerbacks out there, or line backers

Get the 11 players who are numbers 70 through 80 on the depth chart and have them all play 60 minutes of 3-way football. THen cut them next week

Gee ...Why not have the very fast Randy Moss running down there??
People will get hurt ... Wes could get hurt as a WR ... that's football.
But ... if you think hmmmm... Wes is an important part of my
offense ..... I got other guys that can do what he does on Special Teams.
so ..... I'll use them instead that way i REDUCE the possibility of a serious
injury to a Key offense player.

Now if Wes was so much better than the alternatives then maybe there is
justification for using him during the season ... but certainly not during
a meaningless pre-season game.

As for getting a new coach .....
BB is a great coach ... but he is NOT without fault.
Just because your wife does something that you're not happy with you
don't get a new one do you? But I bet you take notice

So, I guess you weren't too thrilled whan Asante blew up Moss and damn near put him down for the season.......

As for my wife, if she could play my flute as well as BB coaches - I'd be a really happy man . Good thing she doesn't read this.

All I can say is 2 weeks till we play 'em for real - and it cannot come soon enough.

I heard he's day to day.

I think you might be on to something, my boy.

Football players play football. The preseason is to prepare players for the season. If we prepare the guys who will driving UPS trucks for the season, that won't help much, will it?
Injuries are part of football. If you do not expose players to football in the preseason, you'll have a lot more injuries in the reg season.
No one likes when injuries happen, but I don't understand why people have to turn that into blaming someone, or anyone. Its childish, IMO. Lets just put them all in a bubble suit until the opener then we will lose 80-0. Thats better right?
