Chances of Jackson being the #2 WR

Does anybody here think he's going to be the #2 receiver opening day assuming he stays healthy and performs in the offseason?

Doesn't matter as the Pats use extensive 4-WR packages. They'll both play (CJ and Gaffney) I'd guess about the same # of snaps. Clearly CJ has the higher ceiling so it's up to him how much he plays, especially as the season progresses.

If you're talking about serving as the WR lining up outside, serving as an alternate deep threat to Moss, to keep defenses from limiting Moss, then yes, we very much need him to be a deep threat #2.

No matter what statistics anyone attempts to use to convince you otherwise, neither Lawrence Maroney or Jabbar Gaffney are going to stretch defenses as a deep threat.

more like #3 receiver behind Moss and Welker. Jackson has all the tools to be what David Givens was to the Pats, a big physical receiver who could block and make the tough catch for critical first downs. I will be deeply dissapointed if he does not step up this year.

It will be difficult, but it is a possibility. Gaffney played very well last season and seems to know the offense fairly well. It certainly will not be easy. However, if Chad Jackson nails down the offense, he will be starting opposite of Moss on opening day. Jackson has all the tools you look for in a reciever, he's big, strong, fast and has amazing hands.

I relly wonder if a you put a poll on this board about whether to kepp Brady or Chad Jackson who would win.

His chances are slim to be a starting WR. No one would be unhappy if he wins a starting job but never has a guy who produced so little been so popular.

I've always said they should get on the field first. Then we can worry about "crownin' they ass" or "havin' 'em sit for a bronze bust in Canton".

Let's see if this Jackson fella can manage to get on the field this year, something he hasn't consistently done so far.

The Pats have lots of different packages to take advantage of the skills of different players.

I think he and Gaff will both have opportunities filling diferent roles. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chad running back kicks (depending on the new guys abilities)

CJ could be much more than Givens ever was.

Oh no it's the Jackson bust train...I think this year is very important for him. We shall see how he does..Givens was a hard worker and wanted to prove that his late drafting was bogus and through hard work he did. Chad has two years of injuries to overcome. He has a much higher ceiling but in time we will know if he comes close to acheiving anything close.
