No Avril or Connor? Bummer, maybe tomorrow we will package two 3rd for one of them? Can't they hear us screaming through the computers?

Why would they need to do that? They own the Raiders 3rd round pick which is pretty darn early in Round 3.

ahh, a CB and an ILB....

Mayo better turn out to be a HOF....

seriously, it seems after him, the FO doesnt really care for the rest of the picks....

Yeah, packaging two thirds would get us into the 2nd round.....which is already over. Brilliant idea, though.

For those who respect my opinion a bit, Wheatley was my second favorite CB in the draft. I've mentioned him several times and classified him as my 'official sleeper' pick at the CB position. I consider him the best cover corner after Cason, and predicted if we drafted him, he'd be our primary kick returner. Even though he's slightly built, he's solid vs the run, and IMO -- starter material. He now becomes our fastest DB. Terrific ball skills.

IMO -- two excellent first day picks.

And the CURSE of Bethel Johnson continues!!! Yaay another 5'9 midget to pair with our current 5'9 midget. Hobbs and Wheatly = Victimized in the Redzone!

The last midget reach we took at the bottom of the 2nd turned out to be Deion Branch.

I'd say they know what they're doing.

Sort of a reach, but clearly a position of need.

Pats must know these guys more than us.
I thought Godfrey or Terrell Thomas would have been better players.
We'll see.

Anyway, corner and ILB have been addressed, and the defense is better.

Nice call.

Funnily, his comparison player on NFL.com is Ellis Hobbs.

I agree, I thought it was a pretty good day...a rusher early at 69 will make me thrilled!

I'd say this is more of a reach than Branch according to most of the ratings I've seen. This one is more like Bethel (who?) Johnson, another second round head-scratcher.

We don't need Deion Branch though, we already have Wesley Welker.

After picking Mayo, Pioli decided to use last year's dart board

for the Pats remaining picks.

hahahahahahahaha

Agreed, I'd say BB and Pioli know what they are doing. No waiting on that pick either.

And Wheatley and Branch have something else in common: they absolutely killed the 3-cone. The Patriots love them some quicks.

With the #62 pick of the 2008 draft, the Patriots are proud to select Ellis Hobbs the Second.. err we mean Terrance Wheatley

right. This is just what many of us wanted.

1)We wanted the team to trade down to 10 or 13 and take Mayo. It happened.

2) We wanted the best corner on the patriot board at 62. We had our own choices. I had Godfrey and King (as did Kiper) at the top. The NE war office and Giant war office both disagreed and picked other corners.

The Bottom Line is that we have an ILB and a CB for our first two picks and now have three Round 3 picks and a fourth, including two of the next 15 picks. We could use a fourth to move up if there is someone we really want.

Day Two - My top five guesses
TE
RB
OT
OLB
another DB

another puny corner. i guess we didnt learn anything on the game winning td in the SB

Hobbs' size had NOTHING to do with that last touchdown. So I guess you think we should have drafted a 15 foot corner with 10 foot long arms who could have reached Burress from five yards away and on his knees

Great pick! Certainly one of the very best cover CB's in the draft. A LB & CB on the 1st day. Ready for a Guard @ 69?

or a trade for Shepherd
