Patriots Trade For Vikings OT Walter Rouse

I had thought Crownover did enough to warrant a roster spot. Maybe he did but they view him and Lomu as still developing, and not ready for game action. In which case, with Bryant heading to IL, that can explain the extra tackle. And ultimately they liked him there more than keeping Hudson for that spot.

I really think they want one of them to take over for Mike Onwenu after this year. That's just a gut feeling, I don't have any direct knowledge about that.

300 career snaps in three years, zero sacks and only 6 pressures. Has backed up LT, RT and RG.

Edit: Sorry guys. I messed this up. These are his career pre-season snaps.

Wonder if this means that Bryant is gone for the year..
Not sure I’d go there. They may not see Crownover as game ready and needed the extra body while Bryant is out.

Ideally he’s at least better than Hudson.

Swap of this year's 6th and 7th rounders.

Virtually cost free as we have 4 6th rounders.

I think the message is clear. The team has no backup LT that they can trust for Game 1.

Crownover or Conley (elevated) may or may not be active to backup at RT.

I think that I posted earlier about our Game 1 backup options at OT. I now have my answer.

Sorry, I slightly miscounted. It's 2 years plus this year's pre-season.

57 snaps in 2025, 137 snaps in 2024.

Either way, I like the trade. Vrabel said they were thin and I like how they have been shoring up the deficits, but I still want to see some help at LB and possibly edge, I just doubt there's any edge help out there worth trading for. I'm no fan of Thibodeaux but I would give up a 5th to rent him for a year.

Scouting report from Bleacher.

35" arms!!

HEIGHT: 6'6"
WEIGHT: 313
HAND: 10⅛"
ARM: 35⅛"
WINGSPAN: 83¾"

40-YARD DASH: 5.25
3-CONE: 7.89
SHUTTLE: 4.83
VERTICAL: 33"
BROAD: 9'2"

POSITIVES
— Highly experienced with a lunchpail mentality, sturdy build and excellent length.
— Can strike, widen and press high-side rushes around the corner on quick-hitting passes.
— Has solid play strength and leg drive to wash defenders out on angle-drive blocks.
— Solid stopping power to grind down the bull rush in his anchor.

NEGATIVES
— Struggles mightily to redirect, change directions and mirror when being set up with stutters, hesitations and tempo.
— Stiff lower half with middling agility leaves him overextended and off balance too often.

2023 STATISTICS
— 13 starts at left tackle

I mean, sure, I would too. Unfortunately, the price is much higher than that - and honestly, I can't blame the Giants on that either, they're kinda stuck, and they put themselves in this position.
